Re: vertical hold adjustment
Loss of vertical sync or any other problem with your Mits is
likely caused by bad power supply capacitors....they are made by Rubicon and are notorious "leakers"......very tedious and
expensive to fix...................good set back in the day.......T.

Vertical hold needs adjustment. Check for vertical hold preset and adjust. If no preset present in the P C B of the TV, try through service mode adjustment. Service mode adjustment possible only by the authorized service provider.
to me its sound like your on the right track. there isnt a physical vertical hold adjustment. more than likely the vertical hold ic has failed. send me your email addy to email@example.com and i will be more than glad to email you a service manual
it is very possible that if you have to continuously adjust the v-hold on your tv ( which would only be in older models) then your problem would be in your sync circuits and need a qualified service tech to repair . most of the time it is a cap problem
Get service manual / schematics from HERE and find why vertical uotput IC is blown in your TV.
Service Manual will also give you info how to perform vertical adjustments.
Hope this info will help you to resolve problem.
I looked for info for your the Mct-2051 & imagine my surprise that Magnasonic not only doesn't have a manual for your model they don't recognize the model #. Excuse my sarcasm.
If MCT-2051 is not a typo, then the closest I could find was an MCT-2053 & there was no mention of a vertical height adjustment by software control. From my past experience this adjustment can only be performed by a TV tech because you need to access the inside of the TV.
The fact the picture has shrunk this much means that the vertical height driver is failing & eventually you will see nothing but a vertical line, stretched across the screen. Which will mean, that do to Magnasonics' lack of support, you'll be out of luck.
When shopping in the future for a TV try to stay with name brands who will support their products.
By the way, where did you hear that you could adjust the VH utilizing the remote? That could possibly be a function of digital device like a computer monitor, not an analog device like your TV.
