3 yr old amana gas dryer not working

When dryer is cooled down the burner will fire up and run fine for approx. 20 seconds and then the flame will go out. it will try to relight but will not fire. during the relighting process, the ignitor will glow while a slight growling noise occurs, then a click is heard and ignitor shuts off. Can you please give me some advice?

replace the gas valve coils on the top of the gas valve, they get weak and can no longer hold the valve open, then they cool and repeat the same condition, they may appear warm after shutting off, remove 2 screws off bracket holding them on and unplug each coils harness and replace coils, there are plastic pins for getting them in the right position,so its hard to reverse them

I have an Amana Designer Series Gas Dryer. It worked fine for more than 10 years. Suddenly, yesterday it still ran, but there was no heat. I opened the bottom panel while it was running, and...

Motor runs, but main burner will not ignite
1.heat switch set wrong---correct switch setting
2.defective timer or timer circuit---check timer wiring--replace timer motor or switch as needed
3.defective centrifugal switch in motor---clean switch or replace as needed
4.gas supply valve closed----open gas valve
5.inoperative solenoid coil---test coil for open circuit & the voltage to it
???
Pilot burner goes out
1.insufficient gas supply---- low gas pressure or clogged pilot filter or partially closed gas valve
2.carbon deposit on thermocouple tube---clean tube & check pilot burner for proper combustion
3.improperly adjusted pilot flame--adjust pilot flame until faint yellow tip begins to appear
4.faulty ignition or reset valve or thermocouple---replace

I have a model LDG712 gas dryer. The flame ignites and burns for about 20 seconds. The flame then stops burning and it about 1 minute and 30 seconds or more before it lights again. The glow bar...

The flame should cycle on for about 50 seconds on the first cycle and approx 20 sec each additional cycle. I would check your airflow out of the dryer it my be restricted not allowing the flame to pull through the burner tube causing the unit to "short cycle". Its not likely a thermostat issue but if you were to replace a thermostat I would replace the cycling thermostat should be part number 3387134. Hope this helps.

Kitchen aid dryer / heat flame not staying on after 20 secs

Sounds like your gas valve is fine, if it comes on at all, its good. A air flow restriction would cause a overheat condition and shut down the burner. Once it cools back down the burner would re-ignite and repeat the cycle. The sensor on the left of the burner is the flame sensor and the flame wouldn't come on at all if it was bad. You've already changed the coil kit so the valve is fine, disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer and see if the problem goes away. If the problem stays, I would suspect the thermostat. Good luck.

Amana LGA30AW gas dryer, approx. 9 years old, flame initially comes on, sometimes for 5-10 minutes but doesn't stay on (I've cleaned out exhaust duct and lower compartment where burner is)

HI, this will occur when the gas valve coils are malfunctioning. The coils are black, located on top of the gas valve. It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

I have a similar problem. But I will provide a little bit of history first. My dryer just doesn't get hot enough (approx 100 degrees just prior to the exhaust vent). Three years ago, I had the same...

If the gas cycles on and off I do not think the coils are a problem.  Sounds like the flame sensor is not working correctly.  The flame sensor keeps the gas valve open after the ignitor shuts off.  Then the temperature sensor shuts off the gas when temperature limit is reached.  When the dryer cools down the gas cycle starts again (usually much more than 30 seconds).

I have a problem with my heating system. It is about 10 years old and has had the ignitor, combustion blower motor, and programable thermostat replace in it's lifetime. The system worked great last year....

sounds like its not proofing flame. it has a sensor usually like a needle sticks out into the flame that tells the gas valve the flame lit and is burning so its ok to keep sending gas, if its fails to proof flame then burner shuts down, then it tries to relight 3 times then locks out on fail safe. the blower will sometimes run continually once that occurs to highlight a failed condition. every time you reset it will try again 3 times then shut down. lp gas is very dangerous, even i do not work on it as the gas acts like gasoline and lays around. not like natural gas that disperses well. if you see the flame sensor try gently cleaning it with a little emory cloth. also a loose ground can cause this. check tio be sure any green wires are snug , they actually flow volts to ground through the flame on some to proof, thats why no ground no flame. if that fails then the board is most likely problem. change wire for wire , or get generic replacemant and follow directions exactly. good luck.some ignitors act as a flamre proofer as soon as they are done igniting! rarely do they fail to perform both funtions.

Amana Dryer LG8409W2 - The dryer heats for a few seconds then runs cold. The dryer has been cleaned as well as the vent and still no heat.

karenl46 -- Flame sensor has to "see" proper flame in order for gas burner to stay on. Safety solenoid engages (shuts off gas) when flame light not detected. Check window on sensor (1:30 CW position) on burner tube. If you still have problem after cleaning it, then refer to URL below. -- SWT
