I suspect you might have a hard-drive problem try booting you system on a different hard-drive. If thats not the problem then you problem might be your RAM (memory) try changing that and see if it works. Your final option if none of the above work your problem could lie with ***********-board

How do i adjust the contrast on my acer aspire 5738z laptop

@tonymclau330

Try the following:

For Windows Vista / 7
1. Press the Fn+Left Arrow Key for brightness down and Fn+Right Arrow Key for brightness up (the Fn key is located at the left side of the space bar)
2. If that won't work, go to Start > type Power Options and click on the Power options icon.

3. Adjust the screen brightness bar below.

Acer Extensa 5620Z freezes after a few minutes and the HD indicator goes out. The processor gets very hot

Hi

Thnak you for your query

Please try the followng

1) Switch on laptop
2) It will say something like press X to enter setup where X=F2, del or esc
3) This will present you with a blue and white screen called the Bios screen, leave it on that screen fro about a hour, then try moving the cursor keys to see if the bar moves around. If the bar doesnt move this indicates your laptop is overheating and you will need to book into a reputable PC shop for repair

Acer Extensa 5210 laptop wont boot

Try the following:
1) Remove power cord, battery and hold the power switch down for at least 30 seconds.
2) Remove and reinstall your memory module(s).

If those don't do it, get back to me for more ideas.
Thanks!

Acer 1717

Hi,

"noisy vertical bars in the video" is indicative of 60 Hz AC component riding in with the video signal. Pls check that all connectors are snug and fit to where they are connected. It would do no harm to try to remove and reinstall/reconnect all cables. Additionally, try plugging in the monitor into a different socket/AC mains. Further, you may want to try and check your cable for any stray shielding or anything out of the ordinary.

Other than the above, could not suggest more easy user action. The alternatives are to try a different monitor to determine if it is the computer video card or the Acer 1717 that is in question; or try the Acer 1717 in another PC. It should be mentioned that some household appliances can also cause AC interference such as florescent lamps, wireless phones or even an electric clock.

Of course you can also try increasing your PC's Screen refresh Rate to anything other than 60Hz.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
