Bosch WTA 3100 Tumble Dryer ON/OFF switch

The on/off switch on my Bosch WTA3100 Tumble Dryer only works when held in. When released the dryer stops. I have had the top off, but can find ** **ne destructive way to release the switch panel, with a possible fix of replacing the on/off switch. Can anyone please help?

The on/off switch is combined with the door release switch in one item - part number 154145 (a little over £20) and my problem was the door interlock bit had failed. The following worked for me :
Plug out, remove top panel, and open door + look up at switch panel - you see 5 slots under the switch panel (the 2 outer ones are mostly covered by the main front panel). Start at either side and work across, using as wide-bladed a screwdriver as will fit across the slot width : put a wood block under blade as a support and lever bottom of panel towards front - each has a plastic pin behind pointing towards the rear, held by a spring clip. Each will pop clear and when all are unclipped you rotate the panel outwards from the bottom edge, taking the timer knob and its drive linkage with it. To get switch out I removed the door and the screws around the main front panel - one is hidden behind a cover plug below the access port (to gain access to bottom screws on main panel, lever the bottom panel outwards along its top edge).

I'm not convinced it's your start switch. If the switch was broken, it wouldn't start at all and the problem wouldn't only exist when released. When the button is pressed in, it takes a second or two for a relay to engage to keep the unit running. If this relay doesn't kick in then when you release the switch the dryer will stop. Consider looking at the starting capacitor and relay.

I have a defy autodry tumble dryer - about 5 years old. In good working order, but a few days ago when I pushed the on/off switch in to put the tumble dryer on, it went all the way in. It still works...

I have not personally seen one but in most cases with washers and dryers, access at the rear, removing a few screws might loosen the top from the back panel and that might allow the top to be pry open. The top is usually held in place with clips rather than screws...same as door panel in cars are held flush against the body of the car with clips. I would try removing the top by way of the back. Just a guess.

GE dryer starts but..... stops

What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.
Thanks/Mike

How do you change the drive belt on a Bosch Classixx tumble dryer WTA3003GB/17?

Its a fairly simple process depending on your machine. Most Bosch machine belts are simple to replace. Here is a good resource: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-replace-the-belt-on-a-tumble-dryer-bosch

Push start button the dryer will tumble, but immediately stops

there is a relay that latches on when you push the start button .. that relay is released by the "door open" switch .. i would suspect that the "door open" switch is bad .. thats usually a button that is pushed in when the door is closed ..

Dryer will not turn on and stay on.

Hello , bad news here , when you press the start button it sends power to the motor and then a clutch sets in and closes a set of points that then sends power to your element -if the clutch does not engage the motor will not continue to run or send power to the element and that is what is happening to your dryer.
not an easy fix at all , the clutch is bad and its located inside the motor and the entire motor would need replaced to repair this problem. they range from 80-100 dollars and would take about 1-2 hours to change.
let me know if you have any other questions.

Bosch

the switch unit on these washer driers has a habit of coming unclipped from th econtrol panel..try turning off the power and pushing on the back of the switch(pushing towards the front of the machine.)if it clicks you may have just repaired the prob.just dont push the button too hard.
