Use an Ohm meter to find the part in line with the heating element, that reads infinite ohms. On your machine, it's probably a thermostat mounted to the element shield, or the element itself.

Hwant schematic for Maytag dryer model YMEDE301YGO

Go to Partselect.com. they will ask for model number and serial number of your dryer. They have every single little part for appliances but better yet they have video's on how to make the repairs. They also have schematics for every conceivable appliance made. the prices are very reasonable and the customer service is top notch!

How to receive the best dryer repair help on FixYa

There are a couple of things that you should include in your dryer repair question so you receive the quickest and most accurate answers.

1. Model Number

The model number can be located on the model/serial number tag that is located on the dryer.

Make sure you get the full model number from this tag and not the model number from the owners manual.

The model number from the owners manual only includes the first few digits of the full model number because they include that owners manual with many similar models of dryers.

With the full model number I'm able to look up factory service manuals, tech sheets, wiring diagrams, factory service pointers and so much more.

2. Detailed description of the problem

At the very least give a brief description of the problem you are having with your dryer.

Descriptions like 'My dryer don't work' is not very helpful.

Describe what is not working. For example is the not heating? Maybe the dryer is heating, but takes a long time to dry?

The more details you can give the better. Instead of saying 'The dryer is heating, but takes a long time to dry' you could go into more detail and say something like...

"I put a load of cloths in my dryer and set it on the auto dry cycle. When I went to take them out two hours later the dryer was still running. The cloths were still a bit damp too. Most of the time I can dry a load of cloths this size in one hour. Why is my dryer taking so long to dry?"

Following these couple tips can help you get a faster and more accurate reply to your dryer repair question.

Heating element fuse location

Hello friend, thanks for your post!

Could you provide me with your model number please? You can locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) on the door frame of your dryer. With that information I can provide additional assistance. -Matt

Dryer runs but wont heat

There are 2 possibilities for this problem.
1. The limit switch is out. The limit switch is located on the heating element on the back of the dryer. This is a small button type part. it will have 2 prongs on it for 2 wires that slide on for power.
2. The heating element is out. This will be on the back of the dryer and depending the model it should be a long metal piece that has metal elements inside of it to heat the dryer. or it could be a large round unit. these can be tested with an om meter.

The limit switch will be the cheapest to start with on replacing.
If you need further assistance please do not hesitate to ask. I will need the make, model, and the serial number of the unit to help you further. the model and serial number can be found by opening the dryer door and looking by the hings. there should be a sticker with this information on it.

Model LEB6000PQ0 has quit heating. What is best

your heating element has possibly burnt out. If you are proffecient in repairs this heater core is located in the bottom of the dryer casing. You will need to remove the backing of the dryer and look at either the left or right section at the bottom and you will see ther heater coil. Take model and serial number to an appliance parts house for replacement. If you need a repair and aren't able to do it yourself a appliance tech can do it for a minimal fee. It really shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to repair this
Hope this helped

Kenmore dryer will not heat

only 2 things can be wrong, the heater element is toast or one of the safety thermostats is fried, most likely it is the heating element. make sure its well connected(while unplugged!!!)

Dryer not heating

If it runs then the fuse is not blown so it is most likely a broken element. Start here:
5a3cea6.jpgTIP: you do not need to spend 90 bucks on a heater pan and element you can get a restring kit for 1/3rd the price, Just off the top of my head I would say you need part number 5300622032 restring kit. No more than 25 bucks.
