Question about Nikon Coolpix S4 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Black Screen Hi up until yesterday camera worked fine, I had it in my handbag and it may have got knocked. Whenever I turn the camera on the LCD screen is now black and when I take a new picture that also just comes out black, although I can view old pictures. I called Olympus who to repair this camera will charge more than the cost of a new one. Love my camera and would like to have a quick fix for this problem if poss. Please help!!! Screen is black. It looks like I have the lens cap closed but of course I do **te. I too can view previously taken pictures and when I take a picture it too is blank. I do **t believe the camera has been k**cked. I went into settings and reset to factory default settings but it didn't help. I also changed the batteries but that had ** effect.

Seems the contact to the sensor, or the sensor itself is gone. Not easy to DIY. I suggest to bring it to an independent service shop in the area and get a quote,

Check also that the shutter at the fron of the camera is not locked, in that case can be an easy fix.

If the shutter is closed then is probably locked. Try first removing the battery and restarting the camera several time, chek then you are in shot mode and try to shot. If it doesn't open you may need to disassemble the cap that holds the shutter to unlock it.

Ok...open up the camera, remove battery and card for photos...then place battery in again, and turn on..see if that helps at all

unfortunately, these digital cameras do NOT like shock or vibration. the innards are not that well protected..

I cannot get the LCD view screen to work ?

There should be a menu button on the camera. if there is, go into the settings and turn the LCD Screen back on. (Actually if you press the menu button on the camera, you should see the menu on the LCD screen.) There is an option to turn off the screen to save battery life.

Pictures are black

My 4300 works fine until this week. No picture display on the LCD screen. Settings like date, exposure, etc.. are fine on the LCD screen. Able to get into setup mode and the colour menu selection box is fine. This shows that the LCD screen is working fine. Prior to this happening, I notice that when I took pictures in zoom mode, the picture turn out to be orange. I suspect this is caused by electronic failure. Light entering the lens cannot be transmitted to the LCD screen. Some photoelectronic stuff had reached its MTBF (mean time between failure)? Is there a way to save this camera?

Sony cybershot dsc-w80 - not working due to error message

I just tried the same thing as a last resort (knocking my camera on the table) with my DSW-100 and it actually worked! My camera has not been working for two weeks because it keeps turning itself on and off with the same error message. I can't believe that actually worked.

This is the lens focus gears. They are either knocked out of alignment, or debris has jammed them.

Black Screen

I just started having this problem with my canon PowerShot A310 and checked their service website which says "Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will repair, free of charge, products exhibiting the above-mentioned malfunction if the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair." Here's the website link: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&keycode=2112&fcategoryid=221&modelid=9829
