You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.

One of two things has gone wrong
1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely
2. You have not finalised the disk.

You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

And the reason your computer or dvd will not be able to read the disc even after finalization is because the disc was tapedin VRO format which is a new format and not all dvd players or computers read that format

How can I transfer from tape in camera onto dvd

The best way to do this is to download the video onto a computer. Using video software (there is a lot available on the internet), edit your video and then send it to the DVD burner.

Getting footage from a cassette onto a mac

Sorry but the only way to transfer the tape is to be able to play it in a compatible camcorder or player. Then use one of the analog to digital converters "available on the internet" to transfer it to a PC.
Best bet is to ask some friends if they have an old camcorder that will be able to play that video cassette for you.
Sidenote: If the cassette is fairly new it might already be recorded in digital format, in which case you only need a compatible camcorder or player and a USB or Firewire cable to import it into your Mac

Hope this helps, don't forget to vote if the answers you seek are helpful.

How does one transfer videos and stills onto cd/dvd and/or a pc?

I find the best way is with your own computer. Using a system like iMovie you can hook up your camera, import the footage and from there burn it onto a CD/DVD. Hope that helps.

TRANSFERRING VIDEO FOOTAGE TO COMPUTER

Hello,
you can access via USB only SD card on your camcoder.
The only way to transfer from the tape is via Firewire (IEE 1394) . You should have this port on your PC or laptop, if not you can buy external firewire card .
regards,
Konstantin

About transfering video from the tape into PC

Hi, You do need a firewire cable (which is normally provided with the camera) and a firewire port in your computer in order to get images off the tape which you have recorded onto.  The card however can be accessed via USB.  The card can store video as well as pictures although if it is the card that you bought the camera with it probably has very low memory. If I were you I would take one of these two solutions
  • Buy a firewire cable and a firewire PSI card for your computer.  Use an editing software eg. Pinnacle or Windows movie maker to import video files from camera.
  • On the camera above the power switch (camera, OFF, play), there will be a switch which at present is down indicating to video.  Switch it up to card.  This will then record video to your card which you can load to your computer same as the pictures.  You might need to buy a new SD card (located in compartment -Multi Media Card- next to lcd screen.) these can be quite cheap and 1 GB can hold more than an hour of footage.
Hope this helps- Any more questions just ask

Transfer from my canon dc210 to my pc

If you can play the DVD disc on your computer you will be able to transfer footage and edit it.

Put the DVD disc into your PC's DVD drive, then

1. Select 'start'
2.
Select 'My Computer'
3.
Find your PC's DVD drive in the display of devices shown, right click on it, then left click on 'Explore' in the drop down list.
4. Copy all the files you see shown with the 'Explore' option to a folder on your hard drive.

You can now use the software you normally use to edit the files you've just transfered to your hard drive.

Transfer footage from DVD to Computer for editing

I use ISO Buster to read the AVCHD footage into my computer and then edit with Pinnacle Studio. With ISO Buster, you place the 3" AVCHD DVD into your regular DVD Rom drive on your computer and it will rip the raw files directly from the disk. You cannot transfer the movies from the DX1 to Pinnacle or any other editor using the USB cable.
