Won't recognize CD Rs

I have the DVD740 and all of a sudden it will not recognize CDR's. It worked fine until maybe a month ago I guess. Burned some audio Cd's for the truck and it was fine and then all of a sudden nothing, but it still does DVD's fine. When I insert a CDR, it jut tells me the drive is empty. Any advice?

I keep everything updated. ** CDR brands at all work, but any DVD is fine. I've read that this seems to be a common problem, though ** one seems to find a fix. I absolutely love the drive and I would hate to lose it. But this is getting pretty bothersome. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive to ** avail also. Got desperate e**ugh I went and got an old memorex CD burner from an old computer, but it won't work with XP.. it wants me to run ME.. gosh that's been awhile..

My cd player taked forever to start playing my burned cd

2001, jeep, "new technology on old IRON?"
burned, burned what? did you RIP a CDDA disc to CDR
or burn a bunch of MP3? , my guess you RIPPED it.?

you expect burned CD to work? CDR or CDRW?
if you read the product datasheet for the actual player it will
list all formats that work (few) back then. RBB was zero.
its not weird, it's history,
there are many formats, for CD.
car CD began with CDDA, discs (like sold on the shelf in a store)
those are not file formatted, its track formatted like an an old LP album. (wiki CDDA)
then came file formats. (vast types. MP3 tops.)
there are 3 levels here.
CDR format.
then file types
last music encoding formats(complex)_ask
i can tell you that not all formats are supported on old cars. few to none.
some do SEEM? to work, but are flaky
and after 13years, not at all or more falky, (weak laser, optics dirty)

why not up grade and use USB sticks. ?????
CDs are pretty dead now.

which player, there are many? in dash.?
http://www.wjjeeps.com/radios.htm#AMFMCD

note the lack of CDR play back ( and all others) until 2002.
and even the 2002 is limited.
all car head ends are limited.
for max files.
max folder.s
max files in folder.

just because a CDR pays in a head end that does not support it
means ZERO, as some heads can see some data and attempt to play it blindly, it's just a very dumb headend. (dumb to a fault)

there are endless posts of users trying 100s of ways to fool it
some can,/ most can't (but is not supported so......)

if really curious. post head end ID , like RBB?
we can get the full spec. on that head.

and this,?
http://www.kigmaradioshop.com/servlet/the-46/RBN-RBB-P04858584AE-P04858584AH/Detail

my new jeep supports all these , yours dont
Supported formats are: CDDA, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3,WMA, DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and CDDA+MP3
(this support is progressive from 2002 to present day)

does that help>/?
if not post head end pn. or series class.

Hello, my Sharp Cd-sw200 no longer recognizes the cds that are in there and none of the 5 cd drawers will open. Everything else works fine. Unit is approx 3 years old and very gently used until 4 months...

Changers are the worse of the reliable units and Sharp is not among the best brands to get. The unit will need service by a Technician.
If none of the 5 drawers will not open how is it possible that the units works fine?

Denon CDR-W1500 not recording

I had the exact problem and could not get any of the CR-Rs that I had to work. I looked up the code in the user's manual where it said the error means it's not a recordable audio CD and to refer to page 6. I looked at the front of the manual and saw that it mentions that the CD-Rs must be audio CD-R discs. I did some research online and found that there are in fact differences between CD-Rs that are just marked that and those marked as Audio or Music CD-Rs. I bought a set of CD-Rs that clearly had marked "Compact Disc Digital Audio Recordable" on the package. When I inserted this disc, I had no problems getting the recording to work. So, make sure the discs you use are clearly marked "Audio" or "Music". A computer burner won't know the difference, but your Denon recorder will.

How Can I Fix My Laptop DVD/CD Player? It's Not Working Right Anymore

Provide a CD/DVD cleaner disc and clean it maybe it help;
I encoutered that problem 3 months ago, the DVD ROM recognized only few DVD disc, other DVD's won't even the windows is freshly installed. The laptop was return back to the store they replace it.

However, in your case; it work fine before so maybe i suggest you to clean your DVD rom using the cleaner, if not work then , scan your computer with a potent antivirus, if this not work also, maybe i recommend to format and reinstall the system,

If all of those are not working maybe its time for you to enjoy the warranty of your laptop if the laptop has a warranty. hope this help.

Wont recognize burned disks

This does sound like a defective drive, most likely a laser / reader issue, because the refractive properties of the CDR is different from a "pressed" disk it looks like thia failed TOC seek issue, the head starts at the center of the disk and reads outwards, the click noise is most likeley the head reaching the terminus (the outer limit of the motorised movement), the drive then unable to find the TOC gives up and decides the disk is unreadable. if this drive is within the manufacturer's Warrantee period I would reccommend sending it back.

Philips cdr 765

I just purchased one from Ebay. It plays fine on both sides. The recorder will recognize CDR's and the display will say recordable media. But, when I attempt to actually record, it won't work. I have another unit exactly like this one and the CD's I have work fine with that unit. I'm guessing this unit's recorder is bad? Any suggestions? Thanks.
