Question about Refrigerators

We have an LG Model LRFD 22850ST Fridge with ice F1600/2399. Every time you pull the ice bucket to get some ice, cubes of ice fall over the bottom of the fridge. Is there a retrofit to fix this annoying problem?

Thunder, I ran into a couple of these, bottom freezer with the same problem, I got a hold of LG and they came out with a different bailing arm on the ice maker. Part number mfc39559901. When I received the part, it almost looked identical to the arm that was on the ice maker. I replaced it anyway and ***** got the call back, but I'm still a little miffed by it. The part is around 8.00, you can get it at repairclinic.com Catriver.

My ref/frez is out of plumb- how do you adjust the feet?

I found a solution in another question for a different fridge. I believe the solenoid that opens and closes the trap door for the ice is not functioning, causing the ice to either always crush or stay cubed, depending on the orientation of the metal rod that runs along the bottom of the ice bucket. Pull out the bucket and slightly twist this metal rod in the opposite direction, reinsert the bucket, and you should now have the opposite of what you had before (crushed vs cubed, vice versa). The solenoid should rotate this rod for you, but if it's busted then that doesn't happen. If you always use one type of ice, you'll be fine, but if you want to choose between crushed/cubed, you'll probably need to replace this solenoid.

When I choose either cubes or crushed on my icemaker, my unit only crushes the ice. I already had the water inlet control valve replaced and there are plenty of cubes in the bin. It is a dispensing issue...

this manufacture makes 2 seperate style ice buckets one in the door and one in freezer with a large ice bucket and auger screw that turns... first we will explain the one up on a shelf in freezer side up top... if you pull your ice bucket completely out of freezer... there should be a small bar coming out of rear toward bottom of ice bucket assembly now put it back in where you got it but this time watch where the rod goes... there is a solenoid in the rear of freezer actually called cube/crush solenoid and what this does is if switched to crush will raise that rod and activate the teeth in bucket to crush ice... if not will let ice fall out in whole piece...this solenoid sometimes gets hung or will freeze ...make sure with your finger you can move it freely and then watch it with some assistant pushing the switch for you does it go up when the handle is hit... the ice bucket in door works the same way except the componets are in the door and a little harder to access... repost with any questions if this doen not help you out...good luck to you

Ice maker crushes even when it is in the cube

If you pull out your ice bucket and look on the bottom you will see a long brass colored rod. Now, if you look inside your freezer section. you will see the slot the rod enters each and every time you insert your ice maker bucket. In the down position (normal) it produces crushed ice, When you switch the lever in the front for ice cubes, there is a plunger that lifts the rod and produces the combination that only allows ice cubes to come out. I would first check the plunger behind the panel and see if it is free.If it is not free it can cause the ice to be crushed...

Fridge Freezer model KA58NP90 Ice maker problem

What is most likely your problem is the crushed ice solenoid. This solenoid, which is located next to the auger motor behind the ice bucket, is failing to actuate when you request cubed ice. Its "home" setting is crushed, and actuates to allow cubes past the crushing mechanism in the bucket. To be certain its the problem, remove the ice bucket, and tape the door light switch in the closed position. actuate the ice dispenser lever, for both cubed and crushed ice. you will see a square hole next to the rotating fork, when you select cubes, it should open. If it does open, there is something wrong with your ice bucket, perhaps the arm is broken, or the door inside bucket is off its snap in type hinge or broken altogether. If it doesnt open, replace the solenoid
