Find out if it is still in warranty and call Philips, because the player will not work properly even after it has dried out. I know, because I and others have personally tried it.

try reseting it with holding down the menu and center button. Your warrenty will have been voided due to the liquid damage though so if you cant get it working with the reset your gunna need a new one.

Mp3 was dropped in water and doesn't work anymore

Well the only real thing you can do is to dry it out until no water is left in it and it might work..Usually when these things see water and there on it fries them..but sometimes when they are exposed to water and they are turned of and wait for water to dry they will work again,,Thats not a good sign when you said you heard it sizzle..Thats it shorting out the main board..You might be replacing if when the water dries it doesnt come on thats what happen.Sorry Have A Great Day

RCA M100256 Problem ~ Won't turn on or charge or even respond to the computer!! x_X

I have the same problem. It won't turn on anymore. I suggest you reset it by pressing the small button in the hole on the back...but that probably won't help for long.
