Question about Memory Cards & USB Flash Drives

1 Answer

Sandisk Format Hi Im using a sandisk 4gb sdhc card in my Canon A640 digital camera. Recently I tried to use the card to store some video for playback on a PC. I put the card in a USB card reader and tried to put the video on the card. I get a message saying that the card has not been formatted , would I like to format it? When I press the "yes" button I then get another message saying that there isnt a disk in "F" drive, please insert disk and try again. I would be very happy if you can come up with a solution. Thanks in advance Dean

4 GB SDHC Card will not format but 2 GB will.

I'm guessing that you're trying to format this card in a camera that is likely three years or older. Unfortunately the camera was probably designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, but there's no way the card will work in older cameras. It's meant for newer cameras, with high megapixel, and likewise high filesize demands.

I have a SanDisk SDHC Card class 4 4 gb and it won't work in my Canon Power shot SD630, I get a memory error that says card is locked, however card is not locked, what camera canI use this card in?

The SD630 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It does not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Your SDHC card can be used in any camera that accepts SDHC cards.

Is a SDHC Memory Card 4GB compatible with my Canon Powershot SD600 camera?

Your camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 2GB. It simply isn't capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.

Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 2GB capacity.

Sandisk 4gb micro SD with adapter is "unreadable"

Hello,

Certain cameras will not recognize an SD card because it is SDHC. The format was created after the camera. Camera vendors do issue firmeware updates.

Hope it helps.

I have a Kodak LS743 and am trying to put a new SD 4GB into it and it won't let me format it. WHY???

Hi,
Your Kodak LS743 camera is built to use the SD memory card standard - which only goes up to 2GB. Any SD card over 2GB is a new format called SDHC (high capapcity) and isn't compatible with the previous format. This is why you can't use your 4GB card - you have to use a 2GB card.
