Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

1 Answer

Quaser My Friend gave me a 45" quaser tv about 3 months ago. Everything was working fine till i came home to watch tv in bed and i noticed the Screen was 1/2 its size just the bottom of the screen. I shut the tv and in the morning turned it back on and noticed the screen size has diminished more there is only a strip of about 3-4 inches in the center of the tv that is viewable. I am not sure exactly how old the tv is? Can you help?

I have a 36 inch toshiba tv model # 36A50 and i have black bar at the top and one at the bottom i only have approximently 3 or 4 inches of screen in the middle to watch. what would it be? that problem...

For one thing you have a vertical problem and since it got that way gradually you can bet that there is a bad capacitor in the vert. circuit(pump-up cap) as far as the price goes it depends on your local servicemen, i`m in canada and that sort of problem fixed at home would run around a 100.00$. good luck

I JUST BOUGHT this TV from my mother two weeks ago.

First of all, if the set is only 3 months old or so, there should still be a warranty on it. The store where it was purchased should have a record of it and should be able to provide you with a copy of the receipt which you will need to get warranty service. Try going back to the original store with the TV in the box. There should be price tags or some other indication of the store on it. Request an exchange by speaking to a manager. Thay may exchange it for you.

It sounds like there is a problem with the power supply section of the set. This could be a defective part ot two that is a manufacturing problem. Try the exchange and keep us posted.

Tv wont stay off

Yes - a new more expensive TV that is not a throw-away model.
The problem is probably in the micro and will continue this intermittently - sometimes hot/cold can have an effect on when it has the problem. It will get worse and it will eventually need to be repaired...
Sorry for the bad news.

Dark picture (HELP)

Open up the back of the set but be very carefull. Notice a large black block with a large red wire that runs up to the picture tube. on one side of that large block where the thick red wire is comming out of are two controls, one should be marked focus or F and one should be marked screen or S. With the set operating normally and not touching anything else, slowly turn the control marked screen or S clockwish till the picture gets bright enough. If you go too bright the set will shut down or you see small thin white lines so back down on the control. then touch up the focus and your good to go. good Luck.

Green Lines Horizontally

yeppers its a g2 control on the flyback thats gone or drifted out of alighnment or the flyback its self.Try turning the g2 control dowm till those lines fade. If they wont go away then you need someone to check the Picture tube or its componets driving the crt.
