Question about Barebone Systems

Attention **ggin, your ranking Guru: I have 3 problems: First, I can't remember what to do to change or check the ink cartridges in the printer (Epson Stylus CX6600.) I have misplaced or lost my manual. Can you please send me a**ther one for this printer? Second, my actual problem right **w is that I have plenty of ink available in all cartridges, but my black ink is **t printing right **w. There could be a**ther one **t printing also, but I frankly don't k**w which one that would be. I suspect the green (combination of blue and yellow, I k**w, but I seem to have plenty of yellow printing.) ** blue and ** green, so I guess it's the blue. I thought I'd shake all cartridges real well, once you tell me how to get to them. Should I be cleaning something? Whatever that is, I'll need to k**w what and where it's located, then how to do it. Third. Each time I start to use the printer after being away from it for awhile (a few hours), it will say on the screen that the printer is **t ready. I will have to turn it off, then turn it back on. Once I do that, it will start printing. I've ***** had that happen before. What do I have to do to fix it? Be aware that I'm a woman who has ** idea how to fix anything. I will have to be led through very well - ** steps left out or I won't be able to follow. My husband is blind and is of ** help. Okay? Thanks for your help. Kathye Long

Installed new ink cartridges....printer won't print...

fixing cartridge problems can sometimes be easy and sometimes impossible.... first perform a reset of the printer... while the printer is powered on remove the cartidges ... remove the power cord from the printer tehn physically move the print carraige .... close the cover and power up the printer ... wait for the printer to request that you install the ink cartridges and install them. If this dosnt work repeat the same proceedure but this time clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the carriage. use a rolled paper towel (like a pencil) and bend it in half. Use distilled or bottled water and be very gentel... also avoid touching the ink heads on the bottom of the cartridges

Try opening the printer properties and cleaning the print heads (should probably be done each time a cartridge is changed), it uses some ink up but should clean the build up from running the previous cartridge dry and hopefully solve your printing problem.

Good luck.

LEXMARK X75 BLACK INK STOPPED PRINTING.

When was the last time you changed the black ink on the printer? If it's been a while then I would suggest you change it. If you recently have changed it then you can try pulling the cartridge out of the printer and giving it a small shake. Put the cartridge back in and run an alignment operation on the printer. You can do that through the printer utilities installed on your computer.

Check that your black ink cartridge has ink inside, eventually try a new cartridge , as ink may have dried up in old cartridge.
If you use a new cartridge ensure you removed cellotape from cartrige.
If cartridge is ok, then it is printer nozzle/head for black ink.
In this case do nozzle check / head cleaning in printer tools a couple of times.
If problem persist you may need to check and clean printer's head with cotton and solvent.

Can't print in colour

Hi Paddy,
It sounds like the color ink cartridge is clogged. You can try taking the color cartridge out, and take a paper towel and some windex with amonia. Spray the paper towel with the windex and then take the color cartridge, and wipe the bottom of the ink cartridge. After wiping the bottom of the cartridge, try pressing on the bottom of the cartridge (Print head) with the paper towel...You should start seeing some ink soaking into the paper towel. If you do not see any ink on the paper towel, then try wiping it again with the windex/paper towel. If after a couple tries, you can not get the ink to flow from the print head, then I would suggest getting a new cartridge.
The HP ink cartridges can get a bit tricky and the print heads will clog when the printer is left sitting for a long period of time.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

We just attached the macbook to the hppsc 1350v all in one printer and new print cartridges. When attempting to print, message reads"color print cartridge not compatible with this printer". We know we have...

Hi,

Just to confirm pls:
1. the new print cartridges are original HP inks;
2. you have remove the bright pink tape from the ink cartridges;
3. the black is on the right side and the color is on the left side.

You can try removing both cartridges and clean the gold colored contacts where the pink tape was. Pls do the same to the mate pins in the cartridge holder in the printer.

Try again. If this does not be corrective, you may need to change inks again.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

When the printer runs out of ink, the head moves accross as normal to let me change the ink, but while I am trying to change the ink cartridge, the head starts moving spontaneouly and jams with the ink...

Printers can do strange things, they are none the less mechanical in some respects. Whilst in operational mode, they can start up and resume a print job that has been spooling for hours ( usually due to network issues or overloads ) but getting back to your problem, i would suggest turning the unit off when the head is in the correct spot and insert the cartridge.

Additional info ( not required reading )
I have one theory is that most manufacturers are re-using older software drivers and updating where needed, and aren't getting away from the step by step type program enough. If a printer misses a step for whatever reason, it will continue to behave strangely until the unit has been put back in sync. Please someone tell me why is this so ? and if i am wrong, why does my printer fire up in the middle of the night, spit out 10 blank pages for no apparent reason ?
