Question about Sharp Aquos LC-37GD6U 37 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Sharp Aquos I turn on my TV it says please wait then gos black. The power is still on but I have ** picture and sound is fine. This problem does **t happen all the time. I **rmally turn TV off, switch my cables to a new input and power back up. The TV will then work for a while and then start doing it again. I have tried several different components (Wii, DVD player, HDMI cable input, the other kind of HD cable input) same problem everytime, started when tv was year old or so.

Shine a bright light on the screen, do you see the image (but very very very dark)? If so, its either a bad inverter or lamps, which are only sold with the LCD panel as an assembly, which is very expensive (more than the TV is worth).

There has been a power supply failure. The process of disconnecting then reconnecting the TV shocked the failing power supply back to life but ultimately it failed

Sharp Aquos LC-32D41U pictures problem

I have had exactly the same problem. Sounds daft but by not using the remote, and only using the power on/off switch on the TV itself, it is working perfectly...no idea why
Use the remore for changing programmes etc but not for on/off
Try it anyway because I know how annoying this is

I spoke to several representatives from Sharp and ultimately they are sending a repair person to take care of this problem at no charge. They realize that this is a problem enountered by several people who own this TV. Hopefully, the repair service will be here in the next day or two.

Comment by Guest, posted on Oct 25, 2008My Aquos has the same problem. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but when I lean the TV forward and hit the power button it will turn on every time. If the screen blacks out and I don't lean it forward when I hit the power button, the screen will just remain blank. It is very weird, but at least repeatable.

- Thank you, Guest. That did it. It definitely seems to be a problem with the TV. Tilting it and hitting the power button helped me get the video back.
