Well depending on the model of the unit.. most of them are *****ed in the back with a flathead ***** or philips may be needed.. once those are taken out, you have to be careful and push it out of the case it's in.. depending on model, *****s could be located in different places and not necessarily just the back.. be sure that everything is unplugged before doing this..

if it hasn't been tampered with before, you will see a seal that will be broken once you open it so be sure you do not still have a warranty on it first.. good luck, d

Open the box (unplugged) and take the memory out. Plug it back it, if you turn it on and there are no beeps, the motherboard has gone bad. Only fix is to replace the motherboard, or replace the whole computer. If it does beep, the memory is bad; replace the RAM (memory) While you have the computer open look at the little can like objects close to the back opening of the computer. If they have brown goo on top of them, or around them, or if the tops of some of them are dome shape, the motherboard is shot. This was a common problem with some of the OptiPlex units.

How to open tower

Generally there are two screw that hold a side panel in place, they will be on the back of the tower on the right side if you are facing the back of the computer. You will seem them screwed into the panel. One of the top and one on the bottom. Slide the panel backwards, and pull it off. Some computers are different, depending on the model and manufacturer. Some dell computers have a handle on the back or side that you open it with. Never open the left side of the computer (when facing the back of the computer).

I want to open the back of the case to install a sound card

Hello you only need to remove two screws at the back on the right side cover of the tower when you are facing the back of your desktop

after removing two screws.. slide the side cover all the way to the direction of the back of your desktop.

Once remove, you can access the slot where sound card is installed and simply pull up the sound card (assuming you are not using your onboard sound card and you are using a pci sound card)

Dell OptiPlex GX270 PC Desktop Remove cover

Press the black buttons on the sides of the computer located toward the back of the computer. The case will open on a hinge. The case can stick, so you may have to try it a few times.

How to open hp d330 desktop case

The HP site which has your manual is down, so I'll try to help. Most desktop computers open from the left back side as you stand looking at the front. There are two screws that you remove and slide the cover towards the back about 3-4 inches and it should be easily removed.

Covers fit tight so you need to push the cover back hard or hit the cover with the flat of your hand pushing back.

Cannot open my computer

1. First of all, you need to shut off your computer. To do this press the power button on the front of the computer after you have shut it down from Start> Shutdown on your start menu.

2. Unplug the power cord from your computer. This is the big black/white/grey plug that plugs into the power supply on the back of your PC.

3. Unplug the rest of the wires from the back of the computer.

4. Find a sturdy flat surface on which to work on.

5. Unscrew all screws from the back of your computer except the power supply screws. You will make a mess if you unscrew the power supply screws.

6. Open your computer up by taking the side panel off, or sliding the cover off. It might be difficult but it will come off if you have taken all the screws out.
