Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players

I downloaded a problem on my creative zen called firm ware and now that i downloaded it says recovery mode and i cant get to my music or nothing the 4 choices you have to choosed is clean up, format all, reload firmware,reboot and i tried them all and still didnt work

In that recovery mode, you just choose "Clean up".
This won't harm your files.

If the clean up is done, Reboot...this will solve it!

Creative zen v plus. when i turn on it says its in recovery mode thats all it will do i reformated it but it does not allow me to put music or anything else on it


Connect you player to your computer and use the recovery tool provided by creative labs.

Recovery tool: download here

You'll have to reflash te firmware with this tool.

When the firmware is lost on a zen or any other creative labs mp3 player, the mp3 player boots into recovery mode.

Note when doing this, all data on the mp3 player can get lost.

Creative zen v plus start up screen freezes when switching on


I had this same exact problem. To solve it I plugged into the computer (if computer doesnt read it its ok ) then pressed the reset button for about 5 seconds. you should see a screen . Then press the play and power buttons on at the same time and you should get a recovery screen. You have three options. from ther you can rebooot and automatically upgrade the firmware after its been downloaded from the creative website. Creative zen mp3 player's screen suddenly went black with lines.


Most likely the video chip inside has gone bad. Best bet would be to contact Creative via their support number. I wish you the best of luck.

My 16GB creative zen is on recovery mode after installing an upgraded soft ware


You must give it the firmware upgrade from support.creative.com, or it will not be able to get out of this mode. Support.creative.com

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Step by step instructions for formatting a player
1. Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
4. Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
5. After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
6. Re-transfer the tracks to the player.

I agree, use the Reload Firmware tool on recovery mode and then upgrade the firmware from the website. If you get "firmware failed!", then try it from a different computer.

You will need to put the Zen into recovery mode and erase the firmware, then reload the firmware. Follow these steps:

To Erase the Firmware:

1. Get a paperclip and straighten it out.

2. Hold down the Play/Pause button, and put the paperclip through the reset hole. Release the paperclip while continuing to press the Play/Pause button until you see the screen change.

3. Select "Reload Firmware."

To Load the new Firmware:

Go to www.Creative.com/support --> downloads. Click through the navigation and download the latest Zen Touch firmware. Reboot your computer, then plug in your Zen via USB cable. Double-click the firmware icon and then click upgrade.
