I have a g4 computer with s dvi and vga output i also have a m8536 monitior with one cable coming from it . what do i need to make it work

The "cable" you talk about is probably the power cable of the monitor. You will also need a VGA or a DVI cable to make it works.

I AM TRYING TO CONNECT MY APPLE STUDIO DISPLAY TO MY MACBOOK PRO AND DONT KNOW HOW OR WHAT CONNECTOR I NEED

Your Studio Display uses an ADC connector, which is very much like DVI but also supplies power for the monitor and adds USB pins so that you can use the USB on the monitor. In order to use it with something that has DVI instead of ADC, you need this adapter from Apple; there are a couple places that have it $5-10 cheaper, but you may as well get it from the people who made it, Apple probably has a better return policy than anyone else in a situation like this. You hook this adapter into the wall and into your laptop, and hook the monitor into the adapter. Hope this helps!

ATI Rage 128 Pro ADC 16MB AGP Video Card

Hello Burnolid,
Well, yes, if you have an AGP PowerMac G4 then any AGP video card will FIT into that AGP port.... The question is to know if that card is Mac Compatible ?
Where did you get the card ? Did you get it our of another mac ? or from someone who got it out of a Mac, then yes, it should be compatible with any Mac with a AGP port.

Can I use an Apple M7649 Studio Display with a MacBook Pro

Do you have the black unibody Macbook Pro that was just released, or the silver model?

Since the display is DVI, it will directly hook up to the silver model. If you have the new model, you need a mini DVI to DVI adapter.

Monitor does not come on

The video card you used may work for the 2nd computer but not for the 1st because of the system requirements. They might be different simply because they are different models. check which video card is RECOMMENDED, NOT MINIMUM, and get the recommended video card.
However, if it is the right video card, then get it checked at a pc shop, like pcworld or somewhere like that and see what they think of it.

Studio display m7649 picture will not come up when connected to toshiba laptop

I am not sure how youve manage to connect these 2 items. You did not specify whic Portage you have, but even the most recent only has SXGA video port. The Apple cinema display connector is ADC. APPLE DISPLAY CONNECTOR. No computers on the planet have this port except for apple's. It's basically a modified DVI connector. In order for you to use this monitor with your computer, you would have to purchase a DVI to ADC connector , which is another APPLE only item and selld for $100 new. You would then have to purchase a SXGA to DVI adaptor...It sounds like a costly endeavor, and with a connections your Portage's onboard video card , amynot even support the resolution for this monitor.

Hope this helps.
