Question about HP iPAQ H5455 Pocket PC

I think i should inform you of my problem, so can be prepared to answer my question. or if we can't chat online, maybe you can send me the answers. I have a HP ipaq 5550, i bought it on ebay and used it for a while. I decided to set up the finger print recognition, and after that i could not log into my pda because it does not recognize my fingerprint. i have done a soft and hard reset on it, and i am still having the same problem. Is there a time that you can set up to chat with me? i live in seattle washington, i do not know what time it is over where you are at.

    THANK YOU!!! GOD SOME ONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE.. With me I accidentally dropped my pocket pc, and it effected my biometrics program, I get an error message which reads Unknown error! (Status=5 error=-103, retcode=-2) I tried soft resets hard resets, and even putting it away for 2 years and resetting.. I love this thing what do I do please help...

IPAQ 5550 can I override the pin number?


Simple Solution:

Perform a hard reset and then attempt to login repeatedly (10x).

You will then be prompted if you wish to reset the pin entirely.

Try a Reset....
Performing a Clean Reset will help
A clean reset clears all user-installed settings, programs, and data, and restores
your HP iPAQ to factory settings.
To perform a clean reset and return your HP iPAQ to factory settings:
1.Press and hold the Answer/Send, Power, and End Call buttons.
2.While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the HP iPAQ until the device restarts.
3.When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button.
The HP iPAQ restarts and powers on.

Failed to start background reading (status=5, error=-102, retcode=0). Perform a normal resert and try again. IPAQ 5500

Performing a Full Reset A full reset is sometimes referred to as a ?hard reset.? Perform a full reset when you want to clear all settings, programs, and data from RAM. A full reset deactivates the battery. The power button does not function until the battery is reactivated. CAUTION: If you perform a full reset, your iPAQ Pocket PC returns to its default settings and loses all information that is not recorded in ROM. To perform a full reset: 1. Press and hold Application Buttons 1 (Calendar) and 4 (iTask) on the front of the unit and, at the same time, use the stylus to press the Reset button on the bottom of your iPAQ Pocket PC. 2. IPAQ 2795 freezes during boot up.


I had the same problem. Contacted HP customer service chat, and got the following answer that
solved the problem:
1. Remove the battery for 30 minutes.
2. Insert it again in the iPAQ.
3. Perform a clean reset on the iPAQ and at the same time charge the iPAQ.
To perform a clean reset please follow these steps:
Press and hold the Calendar button, the Power button, and the Messaging button.
While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the HP iPAQ.

The problem can also be solved by getting a new battery, and performing the clean reset while charging (using the portable charger, not the cradle).

WPA-PSK and AES


on my ipaq hx4700 , i'm only able to use wpa-psk tkip, no aes option. not sure if any difference on 5550.

Just "turned off"....


Was it charging over the weekend? If not, try to recharge the device again... Those devices would on occasion drain the batter overnight -- didn't happen all the time and was apparently caused by unusual software/applications combinations... The battery could be going bad again as well.

so MMC cards are the older version of SD cards. Ipaqs support the fast SD cards and all sizes up to the max.
