The computer brain is likely toast. Way to test if it is gone is unplug and plug in, if you hear an electronic 'click' it is good, if ** click, it is busted. You can find the part online via google and often via ebay, I bought mine from eBay for $85 and replaced myself pretty easily. Normal price online is about $175. Your washer repairman will likely charge more for the part and labor,,,

test the outlet with something else (lamp, voltmeter, etc) If no power, check the breaker. If you have power, try holding the button in for a few seconds, but make sure the door is latched well first. Try to start it on a different cycle.
MY WASHER WAS DOING BASICALLY THE SAME THING. I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOADER MODEL #GHW9460PL0. MY HUBBY REMOVED THE 3 SCREWS FROM THE BACK OF THE WASHER, UNPLUG IT FIRST, AND TOOK THE TOP OFF. WE THEN CAREFULLY UNPLUG THE WIRES AND REPLUGGED THEM BACK IN 1 BY 1 SO U WONT GET THEM MIXED UP. WE THEN TRYED IT, AND THE CONTROL LOCKED LITE STAYED LIT. HE HELD THE SIGNAL CYCLE BUTTON IN FOR 3 SECONDS AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. WE THEN TRYED RUNNING A CYCLE AND SO FAR SO GOOD!! GOOD LUCK!
It is a long shot, but better than nothing...unplug your unit for a full two minutes (recommended by manufacturer's owners manual). This will allow any stored energy in the circuit board to dissipate and may allow your circuit board to "reset" when you plug it back in. Then give it a try.
