I have to 1999 cougar 4 cylinder 5 speed with all fuses out of the fuse box the car still has power in the dash however the car will not start with key in ignition but will start manually under the ho

If you have a multimeter (don't spend > $20 US) you need to check whether the ignition switch is sending voltage to the starter relay or starter.
Also, if you have an automatic tranny, there may be a switch to prevent starting in gear that has failed.
If a manual, it may have a safety switch related to the clutch position.

Vw 99 passat change mirror switch now the car doesn't start

Disconnect the switch and check all your fuses. Some vehicles use the same fuse for separate functions. The fuse may not be labelled "mirror switch" so check all the fuses and replace the faulty one(s) and see if it starts. If it does then reconnect the switch and check to see if the fuse is still OK. If so try and start it again.

I need instructions for a VW Polo 1.2 radio as the set says Safe and the number 1000

Still got your VW owner's manual?
There'll be a section of instructions about this in it.
If not try VW's website customer support (or however they phrase it) section or call their helpline.

CANT START

Hi,

Most bikes (and gasoline feed engines for that matter) would require two crucial elements to start/run: 1) fuel and 2) ignition. A hard starting engine then could be caused by:
1. fuel starvation - there is no fuel in the carbs (or high pressure fuel pump for injected). This could be brought about by the fuel tank's valve which will only allow fuel to flow through if there is a vacuum, the engine is already running. In some models, there is a setting on the fuel valve ON, RES and PRI. On is just that one but requires the vacuum from the intake manifold, RES is for reserve, same as ON except that it the inlet sits lower inside the tank but also requires vacuum. PRI is ON and will allow fuel to flow even without vacuum. Before starting the bike, moved the fuel valve control to PRI if the Yamaha has one. Additional on cold start, putting on CHOKE to about 3/4 up would also enrich the fuel/air mixture making an easier start.

2. Ignition - At every engine start, the battery supplies power to the starter motor and to the ignition system. In some instances when the battery is going weak, the starter motor will gobble up most if not all of the power output of the battery leaving nothing for the ignition system to use. This is especially evident if the bike was used at night with the lights open and the bike did not have a chance to re-charge its battery before switched off. Starting on the next morning would be on a bike with its battery partially depleted. In some instances, the charging system may be at fault if and when it fails to deliver sufficient charging to the battery. Often causes are corroded or loose connection or even a a partially defective voltage regulator.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Marantz Surround SR7500 Receiver (don't know if anyone has this model)

Hi 3303k

Strange dramas you are having there. I would suggest first, that you switch the unit off overnight(unplug at the wall) to allow for a fulll hard reset. Then fire it up in the morning again, and see if it behaves itself. I found a user manual for you online here

It is a good amp that you have, and hopefully resetting it will sort it out for you. If not, please do get back to me here and we shall look deeper..

Thanks for using FixYa, a FixYa rating would be great for looking into this for you. Happy to help further :)

How can I reprogram Nissan pulsar car radio a battery change which has deleted memory? panel shows error message only ERR.

You will need to turn the ignition on (do not start the car) turn on the radio and leave it on for anywhere between 1 - 3hrs untill it prompts you for a code.

There is a internal timer which adds time depending on how many times the code is entered wrongly.

Do not start the car, or turn off the ignition or radio during the 1 - 3 hr period.

Hope this helps.

Thank you

Adam
