The microwave part of GE profile JVM1190 microwave/convection oven stopped working. I've tried the unplug reset, nothing. The convection part works fine. When using the microwave function, it appears to be working but there is no heating.

GE MICROWAVE OVEN JVM1190 CONVECTION NOT WORKING

Convection needs fan drive to force the air into the oven cavity. The fan may be direct motor drive or belt driven. If the latter the belt may be broken or simply have stretched and come off.
Before removing the cover of the oven in attempt to carry out any maintenance such as replacing the Oven cavity lamp, make sure the oven is disconnected from the power point ! The voltages in a microwave oven ARE LETHAL !

GE JVM1790WK convection microwave

I assume you've referred to your owner's manual to be sure you are operating the convection properly?

If for some reason you don't still have your owner's manual, you can get it here. See the tips on page page 30.

You can also do a hard reset by unplugging the oven for a couple of minutes, plugging it back in, then setting the clock and trying again.

If it's still not working, you may have a bad sensor or other problem.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

GE JVM1190 control pad

It is not your key panel, but the magnetron inside the microwave that is causing you the problem. The reason it does not short out on defrost or convection is because it is not drawing as much current through the magnetron to short out.
