My 7310 scanner always tells me to install or run HP software of this feature. I have installed the program disc that came with the printer. Everything else works.

Take the program completely out and restart computer. Install it again and install completely with out leaving any software programs out. You do have cd? If not go to hp.com and click on support for drivers and download them again. Make sure you have correct operating system checked. 32 bit is different than 64 bit....xp/vista..etc

The above software should be able to be run by inserting the cd-rom into your cd-rom or dvd-rom drive.

Once installed you'll be able to run the scanner.

You install or run the HP scanning software. This machine doesn't scan other than to copy, unless it's connected to a computer with scanning software running. The machine needs to know how to scan, and where to send the image before it will scan.

Try going to Hp soltions for updated drivers. Also windows has it own scanning drivers. Try going to control panel and selecting scanner devices, and go through the installation wizard to install a scaning device, if your scanner is not listed then just click on install new device.

you have to re-install the driver for your Officejet.Its A driver's problem . maybe your Scanner driver's file is wanished or crroupt.

hi try not repairing the software uninstall it altogether and reinstall it using the most uptodate driver from the manufacturers website don't rely on the disc supplied with your machine because drivers on discs can get corrupted if that doesn't work the scanner is at fault and you'll have to buy a stand alone scanner i'm afraid. good luck

If the HP service cant help, then try to get a exchange, the machine usually have a warranty.
