Setting up a Wireless Connection

I have a Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router that a friend gave to me. He set up my husband's laptop on it, but I don't know how to set up my laptop. My friend doesn't remember the password he used. I am working with a Powerbook G4 running system 10.3.

If he forgot the password for the router, that isn't a problem. On the router is a reset switch on it. Hit the switch, it will go to default setting. and it is usually Username: admin Password: password. Then on your powerbook G4 you need to see what your wireless ethernet card, has a mac address, you need to add that into your router setting.

Let me know how it goes.

A lot of things can keep it from working. Make sure there's lights and you have power, substitute ethernet cables, do a factory reset. Here's how I did the factory reset on my F9K1003V1.

I have a wireless printer and it won't connect. I tried text sopport for the printer and was told that the router needs to be insinck to the mac address . I would like to know if you could tell me how to...

Setting up wireless printers can be such a hassle!
The quickest solution is to let the router sync the mac address itself, don't worry about the details of it all. Easiest way is to start wired, before you go wireless.
When setting up the printer to work with that wireless router, hook your printer up directly to the router/computer the router is connected to. This will allow for the printer/router to recognize each other and establish a connection. Then, when you use a wireless connection (wireless on laptop/ on printer also), they will recognize each other and you'll be able to connect.
This is much less of a hassle than trying to set up wirelessly.
Best of luck!

On the Belkin setup page, go to Wireless.

Take note of the SSID. This is the name of your wireless connection.

A friend gave me his router to instal to my

You should do a factory reset using the reset button on the back using a paperclip.

Then you should insert the cd that your friend should also have given you (he didnt Hmm) if not you open an internet explorer page while hooked up (by wire) to the router and type into the address bar on most netgear

The username is admin
and the password is 1234

From there you can use the setting your ISP gives you and also set wireless up.

Set up my belkin g router

You may have to configure the belkin router depending on the type of ISP that you have.

Basically, you can do these to configure your router:

1. connect the computer to the numbered port of the router and connect the modem to the internet/WAN port.

2. turn off the modem, router and the computer for 30 seconds

3. turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to stabilize then turn on the router, wait for the lights and lastly turn on the computer.

Yeah hey...belkin wireless router password reset

What is the brand of the router your using? This information will be from the router that you have. Use a wired connection from the router, check your default gateway (ipconfig) and type that numbers in your address bar. You will be able to access your set-up page, look for wireless tab and look for wireless security. You will see there your WEP key.
