My 4 yr old kenmore(G.E.made) front loader will not spin
My wife started wash in morning, came home evening and washer was stuck in the rinse cycle continuously pouring water in the tub and draining out too. Long story short- I start any cycle the the water is poured in and then it does nothing. I advance it and still does nothing. I advance it to spin cycle and it drains out the water continuously and nothing else. I check the belt and it looks fine and the door shows locked during cycle. Can this be solved by a do-it-yourself-er or spend money on a appliance tech? I would appreciate any help. thanks!

Kenmore front loader. stopped at rinse. First ck to see if you washer works at different settings if so its very possible its your timmer or what called the wig wag or solonoid this switches the machine to spin & rinse. A basic service call should resolve your problem.
This is a problem with the pump being stuck so the motor cant turn the whole thing. Turn the washer on its side, underneath you can acces the pump, which is connected to the motor by two long clips. remove the pump and take out the colg that caused it to get stuck.
i had my kenmore washer doing the same, looked at water pump but nothing was stuck inside ,i tried the lid switch and stuck a screwdriver in it to see if this would do the trick,nothing..but when i took it out, i could see where it had come apart...took it out and decided to use gorilla glue and clamp it back till the glue dries, before the glueing process ,i test the draining outside with a buckett..and bingo,it started draining the water,i only had the switch crimped with my fingers and at the same time pushed the switch down ,it worked..draing started..hopes this helps
When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it. Good luck!
