I had the same problem which was after dropping the laptop. There is a small pcb which is plugged in under the keyboard near the mouse pad. It had come completely out of its socket and with a bit of fidling i managed to get it back in without removing the palm rest. Think i had to remove the other pcb above it though ?? May have been the vga card ? This fixed mine instantly ;)

Try testing your dc jack. When it was dropped more likely the dc jack is the problem, not getting a charge.Go on ebay and order a jack.

I know it is too late, but it may help to others,
Many Dell C8** have this common issue, which you can fix by pushing memory in a little and see if it starts. Try on 1 stick first. If it helps put something under the memory cover so it'll constantly push memory in. Hope it helps.

Dell latitude c840 slows same time fans come on, approx. 4-5 minutes after start-up. Ran laptop in cool, not cold environment; no noticable improvement.

have the unit cleaned out good...if problem still exist your laptop may be on its way out

the slow down is due to a drop in power available to the processor, and this can damage it beyond repair.

Dell Inspiron 8200 Won't Boot up. Not even to BIOS.

Latitudes sometimes have a problem with RAM. Try these things to get it to boot...
1. Remove the RAM modules, clean the contacts with a pencil eraser, reseat modules and test.
2. If two modules, remove one and test. Place same module in second slot and test.

hi there, you can try this unplug the powercord from the pc and remove the battery and than press the power key than replace the battery adn plug in the power cord and let it charge for a hour or so and than try it again. if it boots good if not try to press the del key right after you turn on the unit and check the settings of bios to see what they are set at and try to set it to default or failsafe than save on exit and reboot and see what that does

The 3 LED's (Num Lock, Caps Lock, Scroll Lock) are used by Dell to diagnose no-post issues such as yours. The only error code close to yours is [Num Lock ON, Caps Lock FLASHING, Scroll Lock ON]. This indicates a a memory error. Try reseating the memory modules. If you have 2 memory modules, insert one at a time to determine the faulty module.
