What is the proper way to stat a gas 3 wheel Harley golf cart?

I have a 3 wheel Harley gas cart. There is ** neutral, just gas and brake plus a shift lever from forward or reverse with ** neutral inbetween. I find when trying to start it, it jerks along until it finally starts to fire, but in the process, it almost kills the battery. Any suggestions to make staeting easier and quicker?

My Husqvarna YTH2148 B yard tractor with auto transaxle and 48: mower deck is stuck in gear. Will not free wheel when shifted into neutral. How do I release? Thanks.

This fender shifted unit may need to be adjusted via shifter linkage. The linkage may not be finding neutral when the lever is in neutral. Try to move the lever easily into forward or reverse to see if the transmission can find neutral. If you can, then the linkage will need to be adjusted to compensate.

Model YTH180 tractor. Why does it go fine in forward but reverse is slow?

Linkages to the transaxle may be wore or out of adjustment also check the brakes they could be binding while reversing.
Low ground speed: If the linkage is not synchronized to absolute neutral, or the shift lever is not properly fastened to the tapered control shaft, full forward / reverse travel may not be achieved. This may cause a false reading and be misdiagnosed as a low power condition. This also could be caused by the brake not releasing.
To determine absolute neutral, the hole in the tapered control shaft must face straight up and down, at this point make sure the OEM linkage is in neutral. To properly fasten the control lever to the shaft, torque the nut to 25-35 ft. lbs. (34 - 48.3 Nm) of torque with the shaft and the lever in neutral. When attaching the shifter arm to the shaft you must prevent any rotation during torquing. This can be done
by placing a long 5/16 bolt in the hole of the shaft. Hold the bolt until the tapers are locked and the nut torque is correct. To make sure that the brake is not binding, drive the unit up a slight grade.. Position the speed control lever into neutral. The unit should coast backwards. If the unit does not coast back slowly, the brake is not
released from the brake disk. Adjust the brake linkage to release the brake completely when the foot pedal is released.

I have a 1979 Harley Davidson Golf cart that I can't start, any ideas?

Hi Dennis, worked on Harley's for 32 years, Harley motorcycles, Harley snowmobiles, Harley pedal pushers, Harley trikes, Harley flat trackers, Harley sidecars, even a Harley streamliner for Bonneville, but never put a fingerprint on a Harley golf cart. But hey it's just a glorified lawnmower engine right? Let's assume the engine was running before it was stored, you need 4 things for an internal combustion engine to run:
1. Spark, make sure you have the correct spark plug NGK BP5ES
and is gapped at .025" and when the threads are grounded against a clean unpainted part of the engine it sparks when turning over the engine. You might want to install a new one or clean the old new one as it could be gas or oil fouled.
2. Fuel, with proper mixture of 2 stroke oil, keep in mind the carburetor jets and air passages could be gummed up from old dead fuel, or not, mmmmmm not sure about 2 stroke fuel maybe the oil mix prevents varnish, If you have not gone through the carburetor I would recommend dropping the float bowl and dumping whatever mysterious substance or contamination you find.
3. Compression, stick your middle finger over the spark plug hole, turn the engine over and if get's properly blown off, then you probably have enough to fire.
4. Timing, make sure your points are clean, and gapped at .023" and will spark when opened and closed with the spark plug installed and hooked up.
I would also recommend purchasing a service manual, OEM part number 99496-80 for $40 You might be able to order one through Harley Davidson or visit the website below.
Finally, if all the above check out ok, try spraying some starting fluid/eather into the air cleaner or carburetor throat while trying to start the engine. If it still won't fire you can contact me at for plan "B" Good luck and have nice day. VintageGolfCartParts com

I have a 1982 Harley golf cart that won't go in reverse! Please help any ideas??

Check the electric shift switch relay with a good VOM (meter) if you have the EL model - or the mechanical linkage if you have the usual gas version. Use a large screwdriver to pry the reverse lever manually back and forth. Be sure to block up the vehicle before you mess with the transmission while running the engine. Safety first.

Hopefully, the repair simply involves a case of wear and tear reducing the necessary throw distance of the shift lever.

If not, then the transmission or drive train needs mechanical, professional, inspection repair or replacement.

Maybe the Shift interlock cable is your problem from shifting from drive to park but not sure about the reverse.

How do I align the front wheel of the Bag Boy DLX push cart?

Unfortunately, there is no adjustment on the wheels of the DLX. However, you can often adjust it's alignment by ensuring that the weight of the golf bag is properly centered on the cart.
