I am running XP and have used my HP 5m/mp on my network as a network printer for over a year no problems. Now today when I print nothing happens so I check the printer que and see ''Remote downlevel document'' and it says it was submitted in 1970. Any suggestions?
I have the printer connected to my Network Harddrive which is connected to my Wireless Network/Router.I have the printer connected to my Network Harddrive which is connected to my Wireless Network/Router.
And like I said it was working for over a year so this came out of no where.
I also just finished a McAfee scan and didn't find anything. And like I said it was working for over a year so this came out of no where.

Is the printer connected locally to this print? If so move it to a computer that has been working ok and try it on that computer. If the problem moves with the printer then the problem is the printer not the driver or computer. If the printer is networked make sure the IP address is not the same as another devise on the network. Also print to it from another computer on the network and see if it prints.
Why don't you get 1 wireless printer and install the software on both computers and print from both? Also if/when you get a network printer set the IP manually. That way it never changes. (read on...)
Sharing printers was all the rage back in 1985 (Back to the Future movie) ... not anymore. Your probably having Windows networking problems. Disappearing hosts on the Windows network ... and everytime you reboot whoever comes on 1st gets to be the Master Browser and keep the list of computers on the WIndows network. And often that one just doesn't "get" the other computer (or two or 3) on the network for some reason.
Also problems can happen if the ip addresses are DHCP assigned (very likely) so they keep changing and one computer remembers an old ip and it gets broken all over again.
XP the virus magnet where anything can happen bad, and DOES !
why run 15year old OS.? why not upgrade.?
The Lenovo stinkpad. (was IBM)
why not move the printer to another PC, ? to prove printers bad
is that hard?
even plugged in to any LAPTOP, say with W10
v40xi , as old as 2003, is yours that old?
was even run on old windows 98 back when.
but has HP support up to windows 8.1
try printer on win7 win 8.
is the way to do this, using the correct driver. from HP.com
Following the description of your problem, I noticed that you are mentionong both sides of the paper, so I am assuming that you are trying to use the 'Double-Sided Printing "
This can be the reason of the problem--> you can solve this issue by setting the program using the "Double-Sided Printing Wizard" in the File Menu
I downloaded the most recent firmware from dell (3.11T, A03) and reinstalled it. When you run the program, there's a radio button that says "printer" and one that says "network". I did the one that said "printer" and nothing happened. Then I ran the firmware update again and picked the one that said "network" and it started working shortly afterward.
I'm assuming that some component of firmware in the network card was messed up. I could still use the network printing but the "scan" button wasn't working. This fixed it for me. Your Mileage May Vary.
If you keep getting 80 service, first recycle the power to the printer (try a few times if the error doesn't go). If that doesn't work replace the MIO card (the bit the network cable goes in)
had a similar problem resolved: if you are on Win XP select <start> <printer & fax> then right click on <hp psc 1110> and then on <extended>; select <send print jobs directly to printer> rather than thru spooler; setting should be permanent but tends to flip once in a while.
You cannot use an IP number for more then one device. It is an unique identification number. On the PORT section uner the Windows driver, change the last three digits for the Copystar machine, do not change the other ones (keep in mind that it should be unique!). Then go to the copier and thorugh the user panel get into network settings and enter the COMPLETE IP number just typed in Windows. It should work.
it sounds as if the printer may not be set as the default printer, so check in the installed printers and check and also check that the printer you are sending the print to is the setup one and not a pdf or microsoft office document printer, this is found on the drop down box when the print option appears.
i am also assuming that the printer has worked before from vista to an xp machine as sometimes xp needs a small update to be used with a vista pc on the network
