Hp compaq 6735b laptop turns on but only blackscreen

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if okay! the inverter board is most likely the problem, "located under the laptop screen" or the backlight behind the LCD is defective. But if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

so does the VGA port on the rear of PC work. to a desktop monitor
yes, then the mobo is ok. but not screen.
easy no?
i can make the mobo run on a table. vga connected.
with Fn+F4 toggled on and external USB keyboard, I can activate the external screen.
steps. are as follows. in proper order
1: remove that shorted huge battery, there. get it out of there.
2: make sure the power pack reads (VM) 19vdc at the jack.
3: new coin cell if voltage on its pins below 2.9v... yah?
4: get BIOS screens working FIRST. disconnect HDD and DVD drive. now.
5: go to 1 ram stick bank 0 (try 2nd one by self)
6: does the flashlight trick work on that CCFL screen,?
7: remove all modules from MOBO cept CPU and 1 stick RAM?
we call that the strip down tests.\
8: beep codes, or Caps lock key flash codes? what?

BIOS screens have to work, or mobo is dead.
has anyone been playing with BIOS doing crazy things like flashing it.>? yes, oops now you bricked it. then what (ask)

if pc is 2008 that is the solderball from hell year.
see that and the CCFL test here.

so if its got that its, doomed, and buy 3 more used mobo
and all doomed sure

the screen is just a LCD screen and a backlight
if the digital data to it is bad (GPU) then the GPU is bad.
and hits soldered down,,,
buy desktop next time, and its child's play fix.
pop a new card

its no card, it is a chip.
why not post photo of ugly screens, its worth 1000 words.
no kidding, we cant guess, 100 ways ugly an happen ever.
it must be seen here to the blind folks here, unblind us.?
my laptop hp 8540w 's all have cards, that is why I own them.
yours is soldered down fo ever.

what year is it is first first. always,
so we can discount the solderballs from H3LL PC.s
the answer is 2007/8 and is in the solderball H3LL , ERA.

tests: all in BIOS NOT WINDOWS OF ANY KIND!!!! no OS running.
1: battery out, the BIG'n.
2: run on AC power only, yeah.
3: all usb devices remove (exterior)
4: use the VGA slot on rear, to real monitor. hit Fn+f4 to turn that on. got nice video now?
5: power on, hammer f10 or esc as the screen told you to do now for 10 years. and then go to say F1 info page in BIOS.
after hammering f10 the press Fn_F4 to make the VGA go alive.
does that work, yes no.
6: remove the hdd and Dvd drive. repeat above, got nice video yet?
7: now , remove all ram but one stick on bank 0
ram is shared with video. so......
try all sticks 1 by one, to see if one is bad.
that is about it, finding the solderball PC are no fun thing.
and the MOBO is bad if it is.

does PC run on line power (yes/no)? why not state that first.
battery OUT. this is test one on all battery powered PCs
battery out test.
never seen any 6 year old battery good, it be like world record that.

so 15bucks too much to get it on battery,
do you even need a battery? (I do for travel only) do you.
then why travel with a 6 year old battery knowing full well it will fail
just when you need it most,, why do that? as one small example.
in any case , the battery is not even sold in your town. most are not.
and takes week to get one. in most cases (vast types exit)

do be aware the pc can run perfect on a/c and not even with a new good battery if the chip charger fails, as they sure can.
and is near impossible to get that very tiny solderball chip out.
and 10x harder back in, need photos? have them doing it.
using spec. equipment.

Compaq presario v6000 laptop when switched on blue lcd lights on only, can hear fan on but windows does'nt install and nothing on lcd screen what so ever. Every few minutes i hear a click noise and lcd...

It is the motherboard. The V6000, V2000 as well as the siblings in the HP line DV2000, DV6000, and DV9000 all have the same issue. In my opinion is from the oxidation of the motherboard contacts before the nVidia BallGridArray chips are hot air soldered to the board.

As the laptop heats and cools, these .014mm balls expand and contract. Where there is a poor solder pad, the solderball unsticks from the contact surface.

I have repaired 22+ in the month of October alone.

Can't turn on computer

you may try:
1)open cover take out all exterior devices like cdrom/HD/PCI card/AGPcard then power on, go next if nothing change.
2)open cover see any fan turning when power on , if nothing run, check biger power supply plug pin(Ps-on and 5Vsb)all at 5V are OK, less than 3V or nothing is power supply box damage. change new power box to test. still same trouble go next
2)open cover you can see a LED light on on the motherboard
and check power on button is working well(switch).
3) check all biger capacitor top, any one bulged shows motherboard DC damage and need to repair by PC specialist.
4) nothing change above, you have to change motherboard.

I don't know what the problem is

sounds like a fried motherboard, this usually happens with old computers that are used alot and get overloaded, you need to get a new one, good news is that all of your data is safe, and a new motherboard will not affect it any way
