In xp got to the control panel /system/device manager and see if there are any yellow /red (bangs) saying something is not installed or working . if so you may need a device driver for the card or a service pack II update.

My device is connected. Ulead VideoStudio says: Either no video capture driver is install. Where can I find the driver for Sony handycam DCR-TRV30E

  • The USB connection only allows transfer of pictures and movies stored on the Memory stick. The videos recorded to DV tape is NOT accessible through the USB interface. You must transfer taped videos using i.Link.
  • Go get a Firewire (also known as i.Link and IEEE 1394) cable to connect to your computer's Firewire port. Adding a Firewire PC card is relatively inexpensive, but make sure that card has BOTH the 4 pin and 6 pin connections, for most flexibility.
  • Once you connect the camcorder with the Firewire cable, the Ulead VideoStudio will see the camcorder as a video capture device, without additional software or drivers.

How do I get the recordings on the tape, to my computer? I plugged in in through a firewire but I still cant download it??

You will need: 1. A video capture software such as Ulead VideoStudio 10 2. firewire or USB cable
1.Connect your camera with the cable. 2.Start Ulead VideoStudio 10 3.Go to Capture tab 4.Select your Panasonic device as the input for Ulead 5.Hit the "capture" button.
Ulead will start playing your video as well as recording to the PC at the same time

Does not recognize camcorder-Can't install program

You can use Ulead or Pinnacle Studio in Windows XP or Vista. You will need a DV (firewire) cable or a USB cable to plug into your computer. Once the power is turned on the camcorder. You will see a dialog box on the screen to run the video editing program.
