Check your scanner settings; your DPI setting is probably too high. decrease it to one of your presets, like copy, black and white scan, or even fax, at about 100 - 200 dpi, and you should be fine.

Not scanning properly

Hi

This sounds fairly typical of dust, grit or gunk on the scanner "lenz". Could also be that some of the components of the "lenz" have failed or been scratched.

If the unit is still under warranty return to the place of purchase for a replacement. If not and you are totaly bored you could disasemble and give the "lenz"strip (thing wich provides the bright light a bit of a clean with metholated spirits and a lint free cloth/tissue paper. However concidering how inexpensive scaners and multipas's are these days you may be well served just to replace the unit, I know for people from my generation this sort of sticks in our throats because we remember when cheep in the computer industry was measured in thousands of dollars, now it's not just plug and play but fail and throw.

Hmm spend a couple of frustrating hours on a dubious repair or spend one or two hours overtime enjoying myself and get a brand new beastie.

Kind Regards.

When I scan a page and email it to someone, including myself, the image enlarges 12 times larger. How do I change the print size?

Check the resolution of your scanned pictures. I don't know what program you use to view your scanned images, but although you see what looks like the proper image size to you may actually be a reduced size so that it fits on the screen. Check the percentage of view that should be indicated on your screen somewhere, It may say something like 10%.
Since I don't know what software you are using to scan with, look in its help directory for instructions on how to adjust or reduce the resolution when you scan you images. Either that or once scanned open up your images with a image editing application and adjust the resolution there.

How do i install the drivers for a deskjet designer 720c plotter on a pc with xp pro

Dear HCUSH,
Click on the link below:
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/de...

Click on the HPVUD50.zip link, this will take you to a page where you can buy it for $2.99, download it IF you view about 8 ads (Just select no thanks, or next ad) which is what I did. Or get a premium membership.

Needless to say I have the file downloaded and if you had you email open I would send it to you. It is 2.41 meg zip file and has the 720C dll in it. So just select the button to view the ads and download it.

Once downloaded, unzip it into a directory, and add printer> local (Dont detect) > Select I have disk and browse to the directory you unzipped to. Then select the 720c and you should be good!

ADDED###########
Another way is click add printer > NEXT> Local (Dont automatically detect) Next> LPT1 (assuming it is not USB) > Select HP in the left window, then select HP DeskJet 720C in the right window. click Next> Next> Next> Next> Finish. Click OK, It should now be printing a test page.

Sure this helps

Im trying to scan or copy from a book to the priter thought it wont happen

Hello,
I could not get my HP scanner to work and found out it will only scan and send the file to my PC when directly hooked up and not through a printserver.
I don't know if you were trying to do this but it would have saved me three days with HP online help if I would have known it was not possible.
Good luck...
