Have you tried adjusting the screen's brightness? There should be two buttons with pictures of fading and brightening suns on them to adjust this.

please try to switch the main monitor from the secondary and see if you still have the same issue. if you have the same issue, then it is the monitor you are having problems with. if not then it means that either the video-out slot for your 2nd monitor is bad or the drivers for your video card needs to be reinstalled.

1. uninstall the MS patches.
2. locate the patch which is causing the issue ( you can use, selective login for this)
3. or you can put latest patch from Dell/creative for the creative sound card

reboot the computer and then press f10 this should get you a screen with a text line that says safe mode,with net or command scroll down to last settings that worked and try that ps. you really need to make a recovery disk. its that important.

normally, this indicates that the color settings in Display properties are set to a lower than normal setting

It should be 32 bit true color
