I've tried dragging and dropping to all different folders, ROOT, VIDEO, etc. no success. can anybody help? It plays games, movies just fine.

It may depend on the firmware version of your PSP. If the version is before 3.0, it seems that you have to make a directory named “MP_ROOT\100MNV01” under the root directory. Before you put your videos into that directory, you need to rename them like “M4V*****.MP4” (***** means five random numbers). If the version is after 3.0, putting the videos into “VIDEO” document under root directory is OK. If there were no “VIDEO” document, just create one.
Actually if the videos you want to put into your PSP are not MP4 format, you need 3rd party software normally called video converter to do conversion. I prefer to use Aimersoft PSP Converter Suite to do that job for it supports various video formats to be converted. You can find it on:
http://www.aimersoft.com/psp-converter-suite.html.
Hope to help you.

Before you add video to psp, you should make sure the video format is the right format for psp.
Here is a video to psp converter software which can convert all video file to psp format, you can convert first and then enjoy on psp.

  1. Connect your Sony PSP to your computer.
  2. When the Memory Stick shows up on your computer as a new drive, create a new folder in the root directory of the Memory Stick, called MP_ROOT. If that folder already exists, then move on to the next step.
  3. Inside the MP_ROOT folder, create a new folder called either 101MNV01 or 100MNV01. It doesn't matter which one you use; this folder is where you must copy all of your MPEG-4 videos. Again, if the folder already exists, move on.
    • Copy/upload/put/transfer your videos into /MP_ROOT/100MNV01 or /MP_ROOT/ 101MNV01.

You need to have the videos as a mp4 file then what I do is get the memory card from the psp, put it in my pc and copy and paste the files to the video folderon the memory card. or you can drag and drop the files to the video folder in the memory card thats what I do with mine and it works fine

Contec your PSP to your computer. Navigate to your PSP on your computer and create these three new folders: VIDEO, MUSIC, and PHOTO. You can now add any of those media items to those folders and they will appear in folders on your console.

    Internet videos

I don't think you can directly play movies from your web browser. Maybe if you have the latest firmware it will work.( i think the latest is around 3.80) If you want to add movies from the internet and SAVE them onto your PSP, then follow these steps:
    1. Download Firefox if you don't have it
    2. Goto the page with the movie you want
    3. Goto File in the top left corner
    4. Select Save Page as
    5. Save it anywhere you want
    6. Connect your PSP to your USB, and enter USB mode with it
    7. Read the following/download the converter
