Question about Canon PIXMA iP4200 InkJet Photo Printer

More than one of the same ink tanks installed

I keep getting a message that I have more than one of the same ink tanks installed. It says I have more than one Cyan tank in the printer when I do not.

Has anyone experienced this?

It is especially annoying because the printer will not allow me to print when I get this message.

    yeah, i have the same problem, tho it's not the cyan tank, it's the yellow one. I hit this page looking for an anser, but no luck yet.

    Have the same problem, but on mine it lists both the yellow and cyan. Have removed and reseated the cartridges to no effect. With this many people having the same problem someone must have a fix. Waiting to see an answer.

    Same problem here.

    I'm going to try a reinstall of the driver software.

    This is getting annoying to the place where I may be looking for a new printer.

    The same problem has just occured for me.

    Following suggestions on other sites, I've tried cleaning the contacts on the cartridge, to no avail.

    My printer is not long out of warranty!

    Same problem-

    My printer is 6700D and my error says I have more than one cyon installed.

    Warranty has expired a long time ago, of course-



    It looks like so many people have this problem, maybe we should sue Canon for this--this is really annoying

    I have the same problem with my ip6700D, with the yellow tank. If I take it out and replace it, it usually corrects the problem, but it is quite annoying.

    Thanks for the responses. Hopefully option 2 will work for me since replacing an almost full cartridge is such a waste.

I wrote to Canon about this problem. They sent me the advice, first to try taking the cartridge out and replacing it. If that didn't work (I'd already tried it), I should remove the power source from the printer for one minute, then try again. That didn't work either. Their third option was to replace the cartridge with a new one. I'd resisted this option, in case it didn't work, as Canon cartridges are not cheap. It was the last resort before taking the printer for service. I tried it and it worked!

I'm trying to use refilled ink cartridges in my Canon MP530, but I get a V (or U) 130 error message. Any thoughts?

An ink tank that was once empty is installed.
Replace the ink tank.
Printing under the situation may damage the Print Head.
Canon shall not be liable for any machine malfunction or damage caused
by refilled ink tanks.
If you want to continue printing with the refilled ink tank installed, press
and hold the [Stop/Reset] for at least 5 seconds, and then release it. Using
refilled ink tanks are memorized.
* This operation will release the function for detecting the remaining ink

  1. Switch the printer OFF
  2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
  3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
  4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)
  5. After a few seconds (when the printer go ON) you can release buttons 1, 2, 3
  1. Maybe step "c)" is not needed
  2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge - try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
  3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons - you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)

You need to clean your waste ink i think. For troubleshooting purposes, please perform the following:
1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.
2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.
3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.
5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Status bar keeps showing 'check ink tank'


the ink tank could be empty or wrongly installed. Try a new ink tank or re-install the one you have.

Hi there you can try.
Following step by step resetting canon Pixma iP90 :
  • Before resetting printer canon iP90, start with printer power off.
  • Press resume button coincide with power button.
  • While pressing power button, release resume button.
  • Press resume button 2 times and then release both button
  • Green LED indicator will blinking and then stopped blinking.
  • When the Power LED lights in green, press resume button 4 times.
  • Press power button and the printer power will off. Otherwise off, depress again power button.
  • And the turn on the printer again, your printer canon iP90 should be response as normal.

I have a Canon Pixma i90 printer and I keep getting error message "color ink tank not installed" and it has already been installed.


There's a small switch under where the ink tank goes on the left side of the carriage. You have to make sure you install the right side of the ink first, under the lip, and then press down the left side. When the switch goes bad, you need a new carriage which means you get a new print engine. Costs as much as a new printer.

I have Canon M560 printer installed 8 months ago. I replaced the CLI 221 Magenta and CLI221 Cyan ink cartridges, won't work and got this message Error 1411. CanonPIXMA iP90 Color Ink Tank installation problem


yeah it sounds like a cartridge sensors are stuck or broken. i would say to replace the whole print unit. It will need a service support dealer to fit this part unless you can buy it and fir it yourself.

whip the cartridge circuits with the tissue paper, if the problem occurs the same thing than this is the service station error mean s the software has to be installed again

Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly When replacing the ink tanks, confirm that the new ink tanks are installed properly. If the ink tanks are not locked into place, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head.
  1. Check that the printer is powered on and open the front cover.

  2. Wait until the print head moves to the center.

  3. Check if the ink tanks are installed properly.

  4. When installing the ink tanks, push the top of the ink tank until a click sound is made.

    Note: If the ink tanks are not installed properly, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be ejected.
