When the dvd player is on the volume control on the tv is very quiet, you have to turn if up full blast and it still isn't very loud. The tv is just fine when the dvd player is off. Any suggestions?

Mate does your sky box have a volume control as well as your television, I have a sky box(fox-tel)with volume control as well as the television volume control.... I have the television volume up full and control the volume through my sky box(fox-tel).... Hope this helps... CHEERS...
The dual XDDVD710 RADIO has a volume memmory (it seems), it will go to the last volume setting that it was set to, not play to,(supposly to keep it from blasting you when you turn it on and you forgat u had the volume on blast).
To set it,
1 turn radio on,
2 turn the volume to desire Level you whant it to go when you turn it on (other Levels besside BLAST hopefully) ,
3 push the volume button in, that should do it.
Now you can play your music loud and should you forget that you had it on BLAST (to over come road noise) when you last played your radio, it should start at the preset volume.
This might be your TV many of the SONY and PHILIPS TV's have an Auto Volume control setting that is used to prevent the TV advert music from being too loud compared to the programs try turning this ON and OFF and see if it helps.
On the TV-use your finger to adjust the volume level, about midway, then use the remote to shut off the tv, then turn on tv with remote. Volume level should be better! If still not loud enough...using your finger on the tv...turn up volume & repeat remote steps.
The line out jack isn't amplified. Try using the headphone jack. You can control the volume using the controls on the dvd. Whatever source you are plugging it into doesn't have an amp powerful enough to boost the audio.
The TV's front panel may be bad, manual buttons. TEMPT FIX; remove speaker, cloth covered, cover, disconnect cables. TV will work but only with remote.
