Hp F2105 Monitor Repair Part for Dull/Flashing/Black Screen is Available Now

Hello. My HP F2105 21" Monitor screen was coming on for a few seconds then going black/turning off.The blue power button was staying lit though.Well,I found the problem and wanted to share it with others who have this happen. Its the BACKLIGHT INVERTER BOARD.An UPGRADED BOARD is now available. It costs $89.99 and is very easy to replace. They even explain how to do this repair on the website. They also sell replacement polarizers if you have lines in your screen. They also will repair these for you,if you think you can't do this yourself.I replaced my inverter board in 1/2 hour myself and now my HP F2105 is working great again!
Here is a link to their website and a link to the part you need to fix your backlight. The company is MoniServ out of California and they sell other parts as well.Hope this helps anyone fix their monitor.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I can't decide whether to buy the part or whether to buy a new monitor on sale at big box for $120.

After approx two minutes my screen begins to blink, then it turns itself off, though the blue monitor switch light stays on. It's linked up to a Mac mini. The steps I've taken so far, to no avail, are to check all connections, tighten all cables and restart the computer.

My HP f2105 monitor cycles between standby and "signal not found" when the CPU power is off, and when the CPU is powered on the volume display is always on and at 100 (menu button doesn't work to get rid of it), and none of the buttons on the monitor function wether the CPU is on or off. I have to unplug it when not in use or it will be on constantly. HP says the problem is irreparable, but it seems that with what seems to be a constantly inputting "+ volume" button and power button, the problem is with the control board and not with the monitor itself? I would hate to buy a monitor just for a malfunctioning button, when the LCD screen functions perfectly besides that. Anyone can help?

I have the same problem, except I cannot see the menu to restore factory settings?  Is there any combination of buttons to reset monitor?

I must have messed up - I said I was a newbie. When I started out I thought I put it under "Request for Information" but it came up under solutions and I can't find a way to copy and paste to put it in right place.

Thanks if you have time to go to solutions page and read it - it is very hard to type it all again since I had a stroke and my left hand doesn't work quite right.

Hi all, I'm a newbie. Like others I'm having a problem with the power button. It didn't start until I used one of the buttons in the bezel because my monitor sound went out (the computer earphones work though). I pressed the monitor sound button (for the first time) thinking for some reason it was just a fluke. Anyway when I pressed the button, some sort of "indicator pop-up" came up to show how much I was raising the sound. It's a rectangle about 4" x 6" inches and stays on all the time (may flash on and off every once in a while) which makes the computer almost unuseable because it's right in the middle of the screen and it stays on top and I have to guess where any download or favorites pop-up comes up because the the cursor is lost behind it. There is no X or minimize box, to turn it off - just a plain black pop-up with a white border.

The other bezel buttons don't work either - then about a week later the power button started flashing between amber and blue. Now I can't turn it off (except by turning off computer and pulling AC plug) My screensaver works most of the time but the box is even on top of that-!!! Of course I can't use Media Center either (seems like all the action is in the middle of the screen.)

I called HP (India) but they were no help. I would take it back to Circuit City but my warranty expired a month before all of this happened. I called a couple of shops and the minimum (just to open it) was $150 which with only social security I can't afford.

I didn't know about this website or I would have asked earlier!!! Thanks for any help anyone can offer. I'm at my wits end.

I hope this is not too long but I wanted to give as many details as possible. In summary:

    1.) No bezel buttons work

    2:) Volume pop-up stays on.

Hello. Can you even get into your MENU screen?Does the MENU button on the front respond?

You need to get into the MENU screen and reset the monitor to factory settings. You'll click on 'factory settings' in the MENU and it'll ask you OK or CANCEL.Click OK..This most likely will clear up the problem,it resets everything. After doing this, you can re-adjust your screen settings again to your preference, including the sound options.I'll save your question about this and try to give you some more answers if this don't work for you.Good luck!

Screen shuts off after 1 second

You may have power supply failure due to bad caps, bad inverter circuits (shorted IC/Transisotrs/Transformers), or bad lamps assmbly.
You need to open it up and inspct the inside and report back. Please look at my picturesso you know what you are looking for, I will be uploading the pictures of F2105 this weekend (I have two of them that I am working on, one has bad lamp assembly, real hard to repair, another one has bad screen (vertical bars/lines)

Hp f2105 monitor works for about 1 minute and then blank screen. turning the monitor off and on again brings back the screen

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $45 plus shipping. If your problem is not the capacitors then it would be the backlights and that is much more difficult to replace.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.
