    Hi there,

I also have this problem, but you have to pay for the instructions on how to fix it on the site suggested. Does anyone have the disc or know how to fix the issue with the suction/relief valve?

Hi,

I had the same problem with my DC08. What I had found is that cleaning the main washable filter will remove the problem. I have a log fire at my place and I have found that the vacuum does not like the dust from the fire. Even though I sweep up any ash before vacuuming, the problem still exists. At times over winter I will have to clean the filter every week as it doesn't take long for the relief valve to start to open. Over summer, I have no relief valve problems at all. Hope this helps.

Vacuum relief valve

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson vacuums, DC24 includes a suction relief valve. This helps protect the motor when too little airflow is passing through the vacuum. This could be due to a blockage, or because the two lifetime washable filters are overdue for wash.

To check for blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24new/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usualdc24

In normal use we recommend washing both filters at least once a month, using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them in the machine:.

I'm confident that washing both filters, and removing any blockages from the airways, will resolve the issue. However if you'd like any guidance from our experts after you've given this a try, you're welcome to call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

When you turn the power off on dc08,as the motor slows down you get a pop sound

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC08 is making an unusual noise when you turn it off, this could be the suction relief valve changing position. If the relief valve is activating during use there may be a blockage somewhere in your machine, and the filter may also need a wash.

To check for blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/check-the-floor-tool

In normal use we recommend washing both parts of the pre-filter at least once every 3-6 months, using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both parts of the filter to dry completely before replacing them in the machine.

This should help, but if you continue to have difficulty after giving these steps a try, please contact our experts directly on 0800 298 0298.

Why does pressure release keeps going off in canister on dyson dc24 when turned on

Remove the filter in the ball and the filter in the hood. Turn on and if valve still pops off then you have a clogged hose or tube. If it's ok then one or both the filters are choked and require cleaning.

Relief valve opens on my dyson dc24 when i use it with the canister on

Hi Christine, it's Jack at Dyson.

From your description it sounds as if the suction relief valve is activating because there may still be a blockage in the machine missed when you checked previously. There could also be an issue with the washable pre-filter housed within the cyclone pack.

For help locating the blockage, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

You may also want to wash the filters again, ensuring you follow the steps shown in the video attached. Use cold water without detergent, and allow both filters to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing them.

If you'd like further help or advice after you've given this a try, please contact our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Rear canister valve

Hi there Coire, it's Jack at Dyson.

The valve you've described is the suction relief valve. This will open when something is restricting airflow through the vacuum cleaner.

In normal use, we recommend washing both filters at least once a month, as shown in the video above. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them in the machine.

If you find this doesn't resolve the issue it's likely your machine has a blockage - to locate and remove this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

For any further advice after you've given this a try, please contact our experts directly by calling the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Can i reverse suction on DC08

Hi there,

Your DC08 is not designed to be used as a compressed-air blower, and we'd advise against attempting to use it for this purpose as it may cause damage to the machine.

If this is not what you meant, please email me with further details at askdysonUK@dyson.co.uk, as I may be able to help.

Alternatively, if you'd prefer to speak to one of our advisors in person, please call our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Dyson vacuum cleaner model DC08 lost it's suction

Hi Noel,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC08. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, there may be a blockage somewhere - the filter may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/check-the-floor-tool

In normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but for any further assistance or advice, please call us free on 0800 298 0298. Our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Best wishes,

Jack

Pressure relief valve opens

Hi.

If the hose works ok then you have A blockage in the section of the machine that goes from the brush roller to the wastebin.

Just remove the soleplate under the machine & check all the airways working back to the wastebin. definately check removeable inspection ports you will probably find omething in them blocking the airway.
