If it is a top loader then there is probably something wrong in the basket drive tube area! the brake release arm could have broken off the 2 little pins that go into the cam,,, my washer had ground off the bottom of the tube and the clip that holds on the brake release arm fell off and would not release the brake to allow it to spin! so check that area!

Front load washer will not spin

Good Afternoon Kevin,

I see that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire washer not spinning and making a grinding sound as if something were stripped. I also see that changing out the door lock and switch assembly, did not help the issue.

I would suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose what is causing the grinding sound and better assist in resolving the grinding sound. Hope this helps.

Grinding noise before spin cycle

Good Morning John,

I see that you are hearing a grinding noise before the spin cycle in your Frigidaire washer, model# GLET1031CS0. A certain amount of "grinding" or gear sounds are normal in a heavy-duty washer. If you notice that the grinding sound appears to be getting louder, I suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. Hope this is helpful.

I have Kenmore washer, model #110.28882790. grinding noise when in spin cycle. not spinning! What is possible defects?

Sounds like the washers drive coupling is broken. Part number 285753A. The coupling connects the motor to the transmission and when it breaks it can make a grinding noise. Since it is not turning the transmission anymore it cannot spin. Hope this helps

Washer does not spin and it makes a grinding sound

Hello keri... when it will not spin and it makes a grinding sound the transmission has gone bad. This is a costly part and a costly labor fee. Unless the machine is still under warranty a replacement is recommended over a repair. Joe

My Capacity Plus Admiral Washer will spin and agitate, but it makes a loud grinding noise.

Well, Sounds to me like the Bearings are going out, but it could make that noise a good while, before it goes completely out.. Replacement would possably be more cost effective, Kinda hard to beleive !!!!!!
