I had the same problem. When I finally reached HP about this they said that it could be my firewall. You can turn off the firewall then download.

I opted for the second solution, which worked just fine: uninstall, then reinstall the HP update program.
Click START, then CONTROL PANEL, then PROGRAMS AND FEATURES. Select HP Update program from the list, then click uninstall.

When this is finished, then reinstall from Recovery Manager. Go to this website:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00834921&dlc=en

It is called “HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Performing a Software Application or Driver Recover in Windows Vista” if you wish to search it.
Follow the instructions at this site.

You can access Recovery Manager on the menu when you click START.

My e-mail has stopped working

Posted on Sep 27, 2008

I've got a new Compaq with Vista and had this problem out the box ...This is some type of software glitch in the "Total Care Advisor" and on HP's behalf (Vista is known to screw up, so my money is it's the culprit)... it's NOT spyware or adware and if it were Norton and/or McAfee would or will eventually be the industry giants to resolve a way to kill it ... NOT spybot (that's funny).

It's HP's Total Care Advisor software that comes pre-installed on HP machines. It's the update portion of the software and I have the same problem. It's not spyware. It just told me that there were 4 updates available. I chose to install them one at a time. The first two installed then after that I keep getting the error.

I would run a spyware scanner program to scan the PC for any nasties you may have.
Spybot Search and Destroy is also good and free.
Adaware is good from Lavasoft.

This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point.

Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.

Power failed during MSI P67A-C43 B3 bios update

Download the latest BIOS update from your computer manufacturer's website onto a USB flash drive. Refer to your user manual to obtain the manufacturer's website address. If the downloaded BIOS file is a zip archive, unzip the contents onto your USB flash drive. Jumper settings may need to be reconfigured on some motherboards to enter BIOS recovery mode. Most Intel-based motherboards have a jumper setting or switch near the on-board CMOS battery. The procedure for setting the jumpers will vary depending on your motherboard make and model, so refer to the motherboard documentation for specific instructions. Power on the computer and press "F2" to access the Setup Mode menu. If you are unable to access the setup menu, you will not be able to proceed with this repair. Take your computer to a repair shop, as the motherboard may need to be replaced. Use the arrow key to select "Boot Priority" or a similarly named field. Press the "Enter" key. Scroll down until "First boot priority" or "First boot drive" is selected and press "Enter." Select the USB flash drive as the first boot priority device. Press the "F10" key to save this setting and exit from the setup menu. Connect the USB flash drive to an open USB port on your computer. Then let your computer fully reboot. The USB flash drive should be detected and the BIOS should update automatically. When the update is complete, you may be prompted to restart your computer, or it may reboot automatically. If you are able to use your computer without any further problems of overheating or failure to recognize drives, your failed BIOS update has been resolved.

I cannot run my DVD Rom games in my PC after installation. It Displays a message " please insert CD/DVD rom and retry". please help.

That message means you have to insert the DVD into your DVD player. If you've already done that, the game isn't detecting it, and you will either have to buy a new DVD player, or use a crack. Cracks disable the DVD check in the game executables, thus rendering you able to play without a DVD in your PC.Go to one of these sites:gf.wiretarget.comwww.gamecopyworld.comand download the "fixed .exe" that corresponds with your version of the game.Backup the original .exe you are going to overwrite, you might need it later. When using cracks, it is generally advisable to first update the game to the latest version, and then downloading and using a crack.I hope this helps,Yannick.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

follow that link and use the instructions for downloading and using combo fix, sounds like bad spyware to me, also if that does not help google smitfraudfix and smitrem and follow the instructions for one of those (should be available from bleepingcomputer.com as well)

they should remove the offending program. if you can get good anti spyware/anti virus installed and updated.
