Question about Kenmore 80809 Microwave Oven
Disappointed to find no "expert" responding. I had Sears send a subcontractor repairman. He didn't know the problem but when calling his tech support he was told it was related to the baffle which closes when preheating. The baffle keeps the heated air inside the box from being vented out. The problem is most likely the microswitch that signals to the processor board that the door is closed. That would explain why five to ten seconds transpire before F-5 appears. I had him replace the $19.99 switch. His opinion: these microswitches are notoriously unreliable; if this doesn't fix the problem then most likely it's the processor board (P/N 6871W1A454A for my Kenmore). Unit works now but then the problem has been intermittent during the last 15 months so I don't know if it's fixed. If not, the processor board looks easy to replace...but where to get it?
