We would need the full Sears/Kenmore model number. It usually has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

The first 3 digit tell us who made it, then we can look up the code.

Chances are it's a bad sensor or door switch, but we would need the full model to look it up.

Disappointed to find no "expert" responding. I had Sears send a subcontractor repairman. He didn't know the problem but when calling his tech support he was told it was related to the baffle which closes when preheating. The baffle keeps the heated air inside the box from being vented out. The problem is most likely the microswitch that signals to the processor board that the door is closed. That would explain why five to ten seconds transpire before F-5 appears. I had him replace the $19.99 switch. His opinion: these microswitches are notoriously unreliable; if this doesn't fix the problem then most likely it's the processor board (P/N 6871W1A454A for my Kenmore). Unit works now but then the problem has been intermittent during the last 15 months so I don't know if it's fixed. If not, the processor board looks easy to replace...but where to get it?

I had a repair person come and fix my problem it was with the baffle that was mentioned before. It is basically a metal flapthat clese when you want to use the convection oven. If it's not closed, the wireing get melted. In my can, there was something blocking the flag from closing. It was fixed in about 15 minutes and I have't had a problem since.

I have a Jvm1090aw. After using the convection oven the microwave will not function. Is this a moisture sensor or?

I have a jvm1090aw microwave oven and for some reason it just stopped working. It will still count down the timer but it won't light up and turn on. Also there is a small microwave icon flashing at the bottom right of the screen. Any ideas? Today I tested it again and started it for 30 seconds. The first 8-10 seconds nothing but silent counting down then it turned on for the last 20 seconds. It then turned on again when I tried it immediately after that but nothing 5 minutes later.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

If it stops at 16 seconds and is a sensor model, it probably has a defective humidity sensor.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

If you do indeed have a problem, Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.

The manual states that it will beep once a minute after food cooks until you open the door or press stop. Other than that, it sounds like an error condition. But you might contact the GE Answer Center at 1-800-626-2005 Monday 6 a.m. ET through Saturday midnight ET. The owner's manual is available here:
