Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console
I have a problem with my psp, it stopped reading UMD's one day last week, so I changed the laser for a brand new one from sony, this has'nt helped, the UMD spins up and the laser glows red (i have checked this by pressing the motherboard switch with the UMD door open) one thing i have noticed is the laser does'nt move up or down its rails, i checked this with the old laser unit as well and its the same it doesnt move, it doesnt even try.
Hope some one can help thank you.
Hi i just fixed my sons it wasnt reading umd's every thing else worked so have a look were the threaded rod runs threw the laser, in the centre at the back of the laser there is a little tab with a stamped groove in it make sure the laser is up against the disk spinner when turned off push the tab against the threaded rod hopefully it has seated (you ned a good light plus i used long metal twesers to push it down, easier to see on 2000 model than the fat one but you can manage good luck)

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
