You need to format a card in the camera to erase and optimize it for the camera. Go into the menu and scroll to "format" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Regarding the cord, you can buy it from Canon by clicking on "Supplies and Accesories" tab on that page. It is listed as "Interface Cable IFC-400PCU".

yes you can buy the new usb cable from canon store or you can try memory card reader

your tv might be very old so check the tuner curcuit for poor solder joints

You do not need a Disc to get images onto your computer.
Plug the camera in set it to 'Upload'
Windoes will find it and ask what you want to do with the Scanner/Camera Wizard.

You should be able to go up to 64Mb without problems.

The quick answer is to go to a reputable camera shop and try-before-you-buy.

If you do use the larger capacity chips, don't use panarama as some are not able to be used with this function.
