Good day! Here are some
troubleshooting steps I can give
you to figure out what's causing
the problem. Check the physical
connection. Make sure the
telephone cable is plugged in the
Line port of the printer and not
in the Ext. port. Check the fax settings in the printer. Make sure the Fax name and the Fax number entered are correct. If you're sharing your home phone line with the fax with a voicemail in that line, turn off the voicemail feature. If you have an answering machine, have it pickup first before the fax. Hope one of these steps resolves the problem. Good luck!
go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set.make sure the phone wire which you insert in fax machine getting proper dial tone and getting out going calling facility. Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!
Check the send/receive settings. A lot of times, these all-in-one machines have auto answer settngs so that the fax machine does not answer every phone call with a fax signal. Go into the menu and see if you have auto answer off or on, and then also check to make sure if you need an answer code to answer the fax when auto answer is not on.
Note: check your equipment for: Fax machine must be connected to an answer machine Receiving a fax automatically: 1 Make sure the Fax Auto Answer light is on. 2 To set the number of telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes, Receiving a fax with an answering machine When a telephone ring is detected, the answering machine picks up the call. • If the printer detects a fax, it receives the fax and disconnects the answering machine. • If the printer does not detect a fax, the answering machine receives the call. 2 Set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does. For example, if you set the answering machine to answer calls after three rings, set the printer to answer calls after five rings. 3 To set the number of telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes.
in your imaging studio open receive fax and check your settings. make sure it is set to receive. set to auto receive or you have to answer it manually. also remember that to receive a fax the software must be open.
this next is to make sure no software problem in communication.
check ( i'll assume xp) printers and faxes in control panel. right click fax. open properties and go to devices tab click properties. in the receive tab make sure receive fax is checked and your other setting are the same as in imaging studio.
hope this helps.
