Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My windows explore has stopped running i have no desktop

To get back the explorer, press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Esc]. You'll get the Task Manager. Click on "New Task" (Bottom-left of the dialog box). Enter "explorer.exe" (without quotes)in the text field and press enter. You'll get the explorer back.
Do a virus check and have a disk check for errors, so that this won't happen again.

How to remove virus hijack.taskmanager?

Here are versions of a removal tool:
XP - http://www.scanforfree.com/download/hijack.taskmanager-remover.php
Vista - http://orderpage.paretologic.revenuewire.net/plav/download

And some knowledge about the virus:

Hijack.taskmanager is a malware hijacker generally installed on the system through corrupt video and media codec shareware and file-sharing p2p programs, e-mail attachments or via **** adult websites. Hijack.taskmanager can create random malvare records in system32 registry and overwhelm the desktop with **** popups and phony warning messages to threaten users to scan their pc. Hijack.taskmanager rojans can gather credit card, passwords and other sensitivel information and infect your Computer with additional malware.

Virus? Taskmanager is broken

Doesn't seem like a need to reformat just yet. And, you may not have a virus.

Have you updatd to XP SP3? You can find out by clicking the Windows key +Pause simotaneously in the subsequent popup it should be noted under "System:"

There is a way to repair your installation without reformatting.

Let me know about my above quesions and I'll be happy to get you to a Anti Virus program that scans during Boot Up and also get you started to Repair the OS.

Worldvet

Taskmanager

If you have access to a clean computer with a burner, then download Hirens Boot Disc.
The download is only around 80-90 meg and can be burnt onto a cd or dvd.
Download HERE.
Burn that program to cd and put it into the infected PC. Start the computer up and boot from the CD instead of the hard drive.

There are anti virus utilities on there that run in Dos mode without ever loading anything from your hard drive.

Funnest ust virus

theres a couple of things you can try....1st restart pc to "safe mode" and try to physically remove the virus from the file its located, then if fails try use "prevx 2.0 (its a free download trial version) and see if it will remove it, if that fails try; http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ its a free virus remover from McAfee, if that fails then do a system restore to a point before the virus was found, if that fails format hard drive and reinstall windows.
