Yes, please manage to open the back cover of the monitor and locate the CRT board which is located at the top of CRT neck (a small board usually). Please locate the R, G & B markings both input and output circuitry then resolder pins if necessary. Note: Do not touch if possible circuitry with your naked skin due to risk of electric shock. -Rosener

Check your VGA adapter pin 3 X 5 pins in your
VGA cable, if it is correct change that cable, and check your monitors circuits may me dry solder.

Check the pin # 1 of video input cable { broken or Bent }
if it is ok then there must be a problem with the cable or RGB Processing Circuit { Normally Dry Soldering of a faulty IC in the circuit of CRT BASE} .

It should be dry solder joints on the CRT board,the picture tube base is normally dry solder.
Opening the monitor could be tricky as there are two plastic locks which hold the top end of back cover.

The monitor doesnt show the colour red..everithing is green and blue

It sounds like the Red gun in the CRT failed. I would just replace it. Try the new monitor to be sure that is the correct answer, If that does not solve the problem then it is the color card in your computer.

My hp pavillion dv7 1245dx screen has a red tint in the background?

Your lcd screen is bad. It's either the lcd screen or the video card inside the computer, but most likely the screen. You can isolate the problem by connecting an external monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the read and green tint then your video card inside the computer is good but your lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same red and green tint then the video card inside the computer is bad.

It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Acer 2016W - When powered on, it shows colored lines (blue, green, red, yellow - vertical) and then goes to a blueish-green display color, no deskktop display at all, have tried switching out monitor...

Yep,

When the capacitors start to go out it causes the power supply to not provide the correct voltages. You monitor has the back light power but the 5v power going to the video driver board is not working correctly. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to open the unit, remove the power supply board and what capacitors need to be replaced.

My monitor is not showing the proper colors. Green is showing up as yellow and red is as dark as black. When I unplug my monitor and the check cable message pops up, the red, green, and blue show up...

Do not put your speaker near your monitor and any device that have magnet on it. It will damage your monitor colors. If degaussing it not helps you, you can try to use your speaker. Move again your speaker near your monitor and use its magnet to remove the color scattered on your screen. Check also your cable connections. IT might some pins was skewed up. Don't open your monitor own your own. It's hazardous. It still holds thousands of voltage even not connected to the outlet. Bring it to professional if do you think you can't solve it own your own.

Those are dead pixels if you want to get rid of them you will probably need to replace the monitor. They will probably charge you an arm and a leg to replace it so you might get a second quote from Computer repair shop.
