Question about Acer Aspire 1690 Notebook
My laptop harddrive recently died and when a new one was installed I did not get all my old programs back. I downloaded Acer's recovery disk for the Aspire 1690 for windows xp and ran it on my laptop. As far as I know everything loaded as it should. However I still cannot connect via wireless. No problems using a cord but the wireless has me stumped. I have tried many combinations of Network Authentication being Shared or Open or WPA or WPA-PSK but nothing works so far. Does anyone know what the preferred or default selections are under "Association"? Should I enable IEEE 802.1x authentication? (I have tried it but maybe not in conjunction with the right other combinations.....). A couple of times I have done something almost right...I was informed that I was connected but I wasn't. When I tried to do something I was told that I would lose my connection if I disconnected but since I was also told (at the top of the window) that I was not connected I didn't see how that would matter.
Does any of this ring a bell with anyone. Grateful for any advice.
