Aha! While pressing the fn button, turn the main command dial (the one on the back) to toggle the grid display.

Personally, I like having the grid, and used custom setting #D2 to turn it on the first day I had the D90. This frees the fn button for other, IMO more important things.

Remote key pad for IC-7610, I press a button and just get a beep like no memory is loaded, but memories on screen work.

If you're hearing a beep when pressing a button on the remote keypad for your IC-7610, it's possible that the keypad is not programmed correctly or is not communicating with the radio properly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the connection: Make sure the remote keypad is securely connected to the radio's remote jack using the supplied cable.
  2. Check the settings: Make sure the remote keypad settings on the radio are configured correctly. Press the MENU button on the radio, select "Set" and then "Remote Operation." Check that the "Remote Type" setting is set to "IC-7610" and that the "Remote Address" matches the keypad's address.
  3. Check the keypad programming: Make sure the buttons on the keypad are programmed with the correct commands. You can check this by pressing the MENU button on the radio, selecting "Set" and then "Function Keys." The functions assigned to each key should be displayed on the screen. If they are not, you can program them by pressing and holding the F key on the keypad and then pressing the button you want to assign a function to.
  4. Reset the radio and keypad: Try resetting the radio and keypad to their factory settings. You can do this by pressing and holding the POWER button on the radio until it turns off, and then pressing and holding the FUNC button and the ENT button on the keypad while turning the radio back on.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there is a hardware issue with either the radio or the keypad. You may want to contact the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance.

Have noise on left back speaker channel of onkyo 606 blocking sound from movies etc

Hi Brendan, have you swapped the speaker from the left channel to the right one so that we can be sure that it is not the speaker? You can also try a hard reset:

To do the reset you need to turn the receiver on, then on the front panel of the receiver press and hold the "VCR/DVR" button while doing that press the "STANDBY/ON" button. You will see the word "Clear" in the display screen and the receiver will go into standby mode. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR AUDIO & VIDEO ASSIGNMENTS ON THE RECEIVER PLUS YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SPEAKER CONFIGURATIONS, SPEAKER DISTANCE AND ALL LEVEL CALIBRATION SETTINGS. YOU WILL ALSO LOSE ANY PROGRAMMED RADIO STATIONS IN MEMORY. Once the receiver goes into standby mode turn it back on and go thru the setup menu for all custom settings.

When I push '-' to make image smaller screen goes black

Check your setting in "Custom Functions". Sounds like your "-" (or more specifically your "*" button) has had a feature enabled. I had my "*" button set for focusing - under Focus Settings in Customs Functions. If in doubt reset all Custom Functions to their default.

Film rolls back automaticaly

The camera shouldn't be doing this, assuming you're using 36 exposure (or 24 exposure) film. You may want to set a custom function to prevent automatic rewind -- you would have to rewind the film yourself by pressing the rewind button.

To do this:
1. Under the palm grip, press the 'CF' (custom function) button.
2. Use the main dial to select 'F1' in the LCD. It should show a '0' below the 'F1'.
3. Press the 'CF' button to change the '0' to a '1'.
4. Press the shutter button half way to save the change and exit the custom function setting mode.

If you want to stop the rewind with the film leader still exposed (film doesn't rewind entirely into the cannister), use the same steps but set custom function 'F2' to a value of '1'.

FRAME ASSIST function

Enter the MODE MENU and under the CAMERA tab select FRAME ASSIST. Select ON and press the OK button. You will now see a grid on the LCD screen. This feature is beneficial when you need to carefully compose an image, particularly regarding keeping subjects square or level. The grid can be used to ensure that the horizon is level in a landscape, a building is squared up in the frame or copy photography of pictures and documents is correctly aligned.
