Co-worker's step-son denies going into the BIOS on a Toshiba Satellie M115 and putting a password. Now it won't boot up without the password. How can I reset it not knowing what the password is and dealing with a hormone-raging 15 year old boy who denies knowing the password?!?!?!?!

I was given a used Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061 laptop that was running terrible. I was given the log-on “windows” password. There was no BIOS password. I was able to wipe the hard drive, re-install Windows, get a wireless card up and running, including many re-starts without any problems. Today I turn on the computer and it is asking for a password, I assume BIOS as the password box appears before any Windows logo or anything else appears. I did not set a password and do not know how to clear this. I have tried “enter” since none was ever set, but nothing works. This problem is very frustrating as I spent so much time getting it operable. I would appreciate any advice on how to get past this!

How to fix error loading operating system on toshiba satelite m115 laptop

Go into the BIOS and check if the BIOS detects the hard disk. If not then most likely the hard disk has failed and the hard disk needs to be replaced then Windows needs to be installed on the new hard drive plus the Toshiba M115 device drivers and your programs/software.

My Toshiba Satellite M115 S3094 is asking for a BIOS password after I reinstall the Windows XP. I Cant' access any folder of BIOS system or the Windows. Please, help me! I'm from Brazil, and Toshiba...

This happened to my Sister's Toshiba laptop, it's just coincidence that it happened to you when reinstalling Windows. The only solution is to short out the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Doing this will probably void your warranty, so I cannot detail how it's done, however google is a great resource. I warn you though, shorting the wrong things on a motherboard can permanently ruin your laptop.

Toshiba Satellite M115 S3094 Notebook how reset bios

To reset BIOS take the battery out, if that does not work you will have to reset jumper J1.

In case none of the both worked to reset BIOS you can use thrid party software from Hiren's Boot CD to reset the password. You've got Kill CMOS on there, for example which wipes out CMOS. Here's the download link to the entire CD: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip

Heads up on this product from toshiba here is what they say at their website:

In very rare cases, the battery pack of your PC may stop accepting a charge, i.e., the battery stops working and no longer supplies power to the computer. To minimize the risk of ever experiencing this problem, we strongly recommend that you download and install the latest BIOS by clicking the 'Downloads' link that will appear when you are finished reading Support News).

Now about the mic.
It doesn't have a built in microphone but it does have a jack so you can put one in.
Happy Holidays.

I think the only way you can reset the bios is to momentarily short the cmos battery and apply main power to laptop.
Of course to do that ,you will need to dissemble the laptop.
