Need help on refreshing database it says to connect to pc?

Also i need help on deleting music mb it says i need to delete 6mb from my Sansa Mp3 which is a 2gb
if u get this message please try to help me!=]

    i have the same problem! when i plug it into my computer it says that f: is 0 bytes big!!! i cant do anything to it!

    I too am having the same problem. I was listening to music in my car from it, and I turned it off to go inside. I went to listen to it again a few minutes later, and I recieved a message about needing 6mb of data free. I plugged it into my computer to try and see what was up, and I can't even see the device on my computer, although the player itself recognizes itself being plugged in.

    I also can't get my sansa to connect to my computer in MTP mode. It will connect in MCS but I can't detect any of my files there, therefore I'm unable to delete them.

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Hello,

The player needs free memory to build its database for playlists to playback.

To free memory on your player:
1. Connect to a computer
2. Save a backup of (preferred all) songs to a location on the computer
3. Delete some files off the player to free at least 30 MB memory in the Sansa Clip

Use the manual for how to connect and delete music files.

When turning on my sansa e250, the msg "Refresh Database" and "Not enough space for music DB. Please free 6MB" display on the screen. How do I do that?


Remove the microSD card, then connect the player to your computer and delete stuff from its internal memory until you have 6MB free.

You have to many songs a sansa e 250 only holds a certain amount of space so your best bet is to buy a memory card or delete songs so you can add new ones.

The Music DB refers to the Music Database, or the Artist, Album, and Song info.

The error means your device is too full. It needs some free space on the device to create this information.

Connect your device to the PC and manually delete some files from it in My Computer>Device Name (m240)>MUSIC Folder.

It needs 6MB of free space, so you may need to delete several songs.

Disconnect the device from the PC, it should restart and you should be ok. If the message continues, keep deleting files until its gone,

Everything is wiped out and so is the radio! Please help !!


The Music DB refers to the information (i.e. - Artist, Album, etc.).

The device need you to free up 6MB so it can create this.

Connect the device to the PC and delete several songs until you have at least 6MB free.

Disconnect it, restart, and youre all set.

"Please free 6MB for music DB" means that there is not enough MEMORY for the MUSIC DataBase. Therefore, you cannot see the music on your device.

To resolve this, you need to delete music until your device is less than 6MB of being full.

Generally 10 to 15 songs should do the trick.

The device needs 6MB free for each GB of music.

Delete about 10 or 15 songs and you should be all set.

My sansa is messed up


It is referring to the "database", or the menus on the device. (i.e. - songs titles, music, artists) It needs at least 6MB of free space on the device to create this. If you freed up what you think is 6MB, it may not be enough. Even though you have a 2GB player, there is only 1.85 of usable space on it. So try deleting some more tracks. If not, format the device and start over. Right click on the device in My Computer and select format. Best of Luck.
