Yep, my water is pink too, but it is in my toilet bowl and tank. I found this can be from the chemicals used to treat and "mask" water from utilities that try to make water taste better. I know all plastic that contacts water in refers is National Sanitation Foundation approved as non-permeable. You could have an independent lab test a sample to tell you what it is, like I did.

Same problem. Pink ice from the icemaker. Only ever now and then. Local repair man says he never heard of the problem. Solution? Is ice safe?

It is not a conspiracy. Utilities are strictly regulated, they are not trying to kill you, and they are not putting strange chemicals in the water to mask other things. Utilities deal with taste and odor problems by producing cleaner water, not by adding things to mask the issue.

The pink ice is from the lines feeding your ice-maker. I am surprised the repairman never heard of it. I would call a better company next time. This issue is very common with new ice-makers, or new lines. To clean the lines you can run massive amounts of tap water through it, or a couple bottles of carbonated water. This should clean it out and you will no longer have pink ice.

Also keep in mind that ice refracts light, and depending on the lighting in your house and the type of ice you are looking at, it can appear blue, red, green or any other color, when it is actually not. If you are not sure - take it out in the sun and look at it there - where the light is more "white". Also, water concentrates solutes when it freezes, so any discoloration coming from your water softener may be more noticeable in your ice than in your tap water.

However, this is far more likely just the common problem that happens with new lines. Occam's Razor - look it up.

Make sure water is turned all the way on. If still not getting water, you might have to check the screen inside the water valve to make sure it's not plugged. Also make sure your electrical connection on water valve is on securely.

G.E. Arctica Profile Frig produces bad drinking water

The bleach idea sounds the best. How did you get the bleach into the system? It would have to be under pressure from the water inlet to the connection on the refrig, running the water dispenser for several minutes until you could smell the bleach from the dispensed water, plus the icemaker would need to be cycled, and then left for at least 15 minutes to an hour, then flushed with clear water. (again, several, as in about 10, minutes for this step) (icemaker line also needs to be flushed with clear water) Best to be done with the filter bypass plug in place, then when done, a new filter. It is not really possible to replace all the water lines, as the one inside the freezer door cannot be replaced without replacing the entire door.

If the fan beind the rear cover inside the freezer isn't running it can cause circulation problems one of which is freezing in the drawers. The fan may not run when the door is open so hold the door switch down. It should be running when the compressor is running.

Crisper draws are freezing produce. Kenmore Trio 795.77562.600

If you can find the duct work behind the draws you might find an air control, if you have a contract with Sears - you can call them back, the part that was replaced has a Garn.T and or 30 days on service, when you ajust the temps it may sometime act up but has a default and will return to that. Cold air drops down. read the manual that came with the Refrig. Buying a service contract might be the best thing for piece of mind - Sears covers everything, even plactic and paint ( scratches). most everything is plastic in the refrigerators today and are very expensive, 3 doors allow more air into the unit then a 2 door because of the seal between the doors, just 2 pieces of rubber overlapping .
Act on this as fast as you can, 30 days on service goes fast and a service call runs about 75 dollars . Oh ! don't put wet veggies in draw and rap everything with Plastic wrap, veggies only least about 4 /5 days then become soft and lose taste and color.

My icemaker is dispensing pink colored cubes. I've looked around to see if any liquids might have leaked into the dispenser but found nothing. I hope it's nothing dangerous that might've found it's way...

First of all do not use these pink cubes or drink any water coming from the same source until the cause is nailed down. It could be as simple as making four full bins of ice, discarding each, until the cubes are normal. It could be that your ice maker is fed with a little 1/4 inch plastic line, no longer recommended, which is making the ice pink. [if that is the case change out the plastic with a braided stainless steel line. it will improve the quality of your water now and never ever break on you].

OR it could be a serious problem like water from your toilet tank being drawn back into your fresh water supply. All that being said, begin by not using the cubes and letting the machine produce four bins of ice which u discard. That is the most common fix.

good luck

please rate my anwser as a fixya! thanks

Kenmore Trio Refrigerator Fire Hazard

I experienced the same bulb housing melting/potential fire problem with my Kenmore Elite Trio refrigerator ( Model #79577549600) that I purchased in April of 2006. The first time it happened was in July 2008. I smelled burning plastic when I opened the fridge and noticed the bulb housing was extremely hot. The only way I was able to unscrew the bulbs was to unplug the fridge for a while until the bulbs cooled down. Unbeknownst to me, by unplugging the fridge, I reset some CPU board (or something) and the problem corrected itself. However, the lighbulb sockets were blackened and the plastic housing started to melt, so that was damaged. Because the problem corrected itself, I second guessed myself, thinking that perhaps I left the door open and the Alarm was off (even though it was on, but I dumbfounded). Then this past Sunday, 9-21-08, it happened again. This time, even worse. The plastic housing is completely destroyed because of the melting, the lightbulb shattered and the sockets are burnt. Thank goodness I decided to check about similar complaints before calling Sears. I can't believe all the incidents of this extremely dangerous hazard. Of course, the Sears 1-800 number offered no assistance since I didn't purchase an extended warranty. They recommended calling Kenmore. They were even worse. Finally, after reporting it to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, I decided to call the salesman directly who I purchased it from. He stated he never heard of that problem. However, he told me to call One Source at 1-800-479-5899 to see if they could help me with my "product failure". He warned me that they might not be quick to help, but to be persistent. I was all ready for a fight when Jim answered the One Source phone. When I told him my problem, he immediately stated he knew about the problem and he'd get a tech out as soon as possible to replace the necessary parts. He stated that this problem was "rampant", but that they were correcting it at no charge to the customers. I now have a tech coming on 10/2 (the earliest opening) and a case number. I would recommend still reporting this problem to CPSC, but then try One Source.

I had the same problem, freezer full of groceries defrosting or crisper drawer freezing produce. Sears Appliance Repair sent servicemen out twice and both times I was assured the problem was fixed. After freezing produce the third time I insisted they come and get the faulty appliance. The replacement has worked perfectly since day 1. INSIST ON A REPLACEMENT
