Ok..here's what you do..

you'll need to uninstall that box, and then start from scratch...it's not unheard of to have a corrupted set of drivers(not from the CD). get em from the website first, before uninstall.

then, start fresh..

had any power glitches lately?

Wireless zero configuration is the feature of Windows XP that allows Windows to detect the available wireless networks and automatically connect to the most preferred wireless network.

It is enabled by the Wireless Zero Configuration service in Windows XP. It provides auto wireless network detection when you switch on the computer.
Follow the steps below to verify that the service is running:
1. Go to Start and right click My Computer. Select and click Manage.
2. Computer Management window will appear. Under Services and Applications, select Services.
3. Check for the service Wireless Zero Configuration. Make sure that it is started and that the startup type is set to automatic.
computer-management.jpg4. If it isn't, double-click the service. If the startup type is not set to automatic, click on the dropdown arrow and and change it to automatic. Click OK at last.
autostart-wireless-zero.jpgIf your wireless adapter driver does not support wireless auto onfiguration, you will notice the following:
- The network adapter does not appear as a wireless network adapter in Network Connections. It appears as a LAN adapter, similar to an Ethernet connection.
- The properties of the wireless connection do not have a Wireless Networks tab.
- You do not receive a Windows XP notification bar message indicating that wireless networks are available.
To get the most out of your Windows XP wireless experience, you should contact wireless adapter manufacturer to obtain the latest version of the drivers that support this XP feature.
If not, you must manually configure wireless network settings using the configuration software supplied with the wireless network adapter.

Why my wireless laptop is not working

You have to do a few steps to check the problem :
1.Check if the wireless switch is on, on your laptop.
2. If it is on then check if the network adaptors are installed or not. You can check that by going into device manager ( start - run - devmgmt.msc). If it is not installed you will find a exclamation mark or simply go to your manufacturers website and update your wireless driver.
3.Then go to Start\Connect To\Show All Network Connections (or, if this doesn't show up on your computer, Start\Control Panel\Network And Internet Connections\Network Connections). For your wireless card, remove it from the bridge (right click on the wireless network and enable it if it is disabled and then if you have a option remove it from bridge click on that.)
4.Restart your wireless zero configration. Go to control panel/Administrative tools/Services, right-clicking on the "Wireless Zero Configuration", and telling it to stop. After it stops, right-click on it again, and tell it to start, and then wait a minute or so and see what happens.
then try to connect and see if you can for this go to the network and sharing center search for all the wireless networks and try to connect. I think this should do it for you. If not reply with the message or error you get.

Wireless not working

Hi, Sometimes the wireless startup can become disabled. Try this to see if you can force your wireless connection to startup:

Start
Run
Type: "services.msc" (without quotes)
ok
Click: Wireless Zero Configuration
Click: "Start" (without quotes)
ok

Also, make sure that you have the most recent driver for your network adapter. Go to the manufacturer's website to check.

Good Luck!

It seems that your LAN Card or Network Interface Card is disabled , go into the device manager ( Start ->Run->cmd->devmgmt.msc ) Now in device manager you will see Network Adapter expand it and then you will see one Wireless Ethernet Adapter and another Ethernet Adapter ( this is you LAN adapter to which the cable will connect to ) Right click and Enable this.
Let me know if this helps

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 that I need to hook up to a Verizon Wireless situation. It has a Netgear card in it, plus the antenna for the back. The NetGear info. on the screen shows it has a Very Good...

Have you installed the Netgear wireless card driver already?

If you did, then go to the network connections on Control Panel and right-click the wireless icon then select "View Available Wireless Networks".

On the left hand side of the window, click "Change advance settings". A window will appear and see if you have a wireless tab. If you don't have the wireless tab, do these steps:

Click Start, then Click Run. Type services.msc and click ok.

Scroll down all the way to the bottom and double-click Wireless Zero Configuration and set it to automatic then click the "Start" button to start the service. Close the window.

Again, go to the network connections in control panel and right-click the wireless icon. Click the Change Advance Settings again and now you'll be able to see the wireless tab. Click it and put a bullet-point to "Let windows manage wireless connections" Click apply and Close or OK.

Right-click again the Wireless icon to view available wireless networks. Wait until the window populates and click the name of your network. Click connect and enter the password if prompted.

Happy surfing!!! ^_^

It says i am connected to wi fi internet but cannot browse it says see article 871122 microsoft knowledge base on microsoft.com please help do i need to download something.

1.) Pls. use the software for your wi fi adapter, connected on desktop to connect to the wireless lan.
2.) microsoft: This behavior occurs for several reasons. Some computer and hardware manufacturers provide their own configuration software that replaces the Wireless Zero Configuration service that is provided in Windows. In that case, you must use the software that is provided by the manufacturer to configure your wireless network. If you want to use the Wireless Network Setup Wizard or the View Available Wireless Networks feature to configure your wireless device, see the documentation that came with your computer or with your wireless network card. Use this documentation to determine whether you can use the Wireless Zero Configuration service to configure your wireless network. Sometimes, you cannot use the Windows functionality.

If your computer or your wireless network adapter did not come with its own wireless network software, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Click Network Connections.
  3. In Network Connections, click to select your wireless connection, and then click Change settings of this connection.
  4. On the Wireless Networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box.

To start the Wireless Zero Configuration service, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s, and then click OK.
  2. Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration.
  3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.
  4. In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.
